Claudia is currently the Assistant Director of the Department of Human
Nutrition at Tygerberg Hospital. She graduated as a Dietitian from Stellenbosch
University in 1989. Over a period of more than 20 years she gained experience in all aspects of nutrition, particularly paediatric nutrition; with a special interest in paediatric gastroenterology, severe acute malnutrition and diseases of the liver, pancreas and gallbladder
She is an accredited lecturer at Stellenbosch University and has been involved in the practical training and lecturing of BSc Dietetics students. She has also been a co-promoter in both under and post graduate research studies as well as being an external examiner for post-graduate studies.
She has been a member of task teams involved in the development of guidelines and policies in the Western Cape, such as the “Policy for Tube
Feeding”, “Policy Guidelines for Enteral feeding for Adults, Children and
Infants” and “The Comprehensive Package of Care for Young Children with of
Severe Acute Malnutrition” as well as various clinical paediatric guidelines.
