Provisional membership
Companies conducting commercial cruises in the Arctic areas (limited to AECO’s geographic range) on yachts or
vessels with an expeditionary format to the voyage itinerary and who operate and organize their own
expeditions may apply for Provisional membership with AECO. This would include companies that own or
charter their vessels, sign a sub-charter contract, plan the itineraries, hire expedition staff, obtain the necessary
permissions, secure adequate insurance coverage and take full responsibility for all operations during the
course of the voyage. After a trial period of at least one full season.Provisional members may apply for Full
membership with AECO.
Full membership
Provisional members who have operated at least one full season in the Arctic may apply for Full membership in
AECO
Associate membership
Companies who fulfill the criteria for Provisional membership with AECO, but operate expedition cruises to
Arctic areas not yet included in what is defined as AECO's geographical range 1, may apply for Associate
membership in AECO.
Affiliate membership
Organizers who do not fulfill the criteria of becoming Provisional, Full or Associate members of AECO, but
supports the objectives of AECO and are associated with Arctic cruise activities, may apply for Affiliate
membership in AECO. Applications for affiliate membership are subject to individual consideration and may be
granted or denied for any or no reason.

AECO’s objective is to ensure that expedition cruises and tourism in the Arctic is carried out with the utmost
consideration for the vulnerable, natural environment, local cultures and cultural remains, as well as the
challenging safety hazards at sea and on land.
Membership requirements and membership fees are explained in AECO’s bylaws. Applicants are required to
acquaint themselves with the AECO-bylaws. By signing this application the applicant acknowledges all the
requirements as stated in the bylaws.
