Product care:
Thank you for purchasing your product from Dee Millen Rabbit Accessories. We strive to supply a
high quality product, but as part of the process of ensuring that your pets get the best out of their
new home, it is important to care for your products in the correct way.
Our products come flat packed and include assembly instructions. It is important that these
instructions are followed correctly and assembly is carried out by persons competent in DIY. For our
hutch products, this means ensuring that all joints are correctly lined up and fastened tightly to
ensure that no gaps exist that might allow water to penetrate and completes the solid construction.
It is recommended that an electric screwdriver is used to do this.
All our stained external timer products are supplied pre-treated with preservative (not water
proofed), and therefore protected against rot for 12 months. After this time they will need to be
retreated with animal friendly water based preserver for the following 12 months and this treatment
repeated annually.
Choosing the position to keep the hutch is also important. Position the hutch in a sheltered situation
away from heavy wind and rain. Place on an even hard standing or if going on grass –place paving
slabs under the four legs, this will stop the very heavy hutch stinking into the ground and possible
twisting. Ensure that during the winter months, snow or ice is kept off the felted roof and removed
daily. Do not place heavy or sharp objects on the roof and lubricate/weather proof the bolts and
hinges regularly to ensure they are kept in good working order.
Wood is a porous material and therefore during persistent or heavy rain, it MUST be protected by a
waterproof cover. This will ensure that the wood remains dry in bad weather and does not swell.
The hutch cover not only protects the animals living in the hutch but the hutch as well.
