OFFICERS CONFERENCE, AFRICA REGION

The 15th Commonwealth Speakers and Presiding Officers Conference, Africa
Region will be held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Accra (Ghana) from
Sunday, 1st November, 2015 to Friday, 6th November, 2015.
CONFERENCE THEME
The theme for the Conference is “Raising the Confidence of the Citizenry in
the Legislature: The Role of the Speaker”.

a) Perspectives on enforcing ethical codes of conduct in Parliament: Sharing
country experiences.

PARTICIPATION
Hon Speakers and Presiding Officers may be accompanied by their spouses and
not more than four other persons.
CEREMONIAL GOWNS OF HON SPEAKERS AND PRESIDING OFFICERS
Hon Speakers and Presiding Officers are expected to come along with their
ceremonial gowns for procession during the Opening Ceremony.
SPOUSAL PROGRAMME
A Spousal Programme has been planned for spouses of Speakers and Presiding
Officers who would attend the Conference. Details of this programme would be
communicated to participants during the Conference.

Hon Speakers and Presiding Officers may confirm their participation by
completing the attached registration form, which shall be returned to the
Conference Coordinator, Mr Robert Apodolla, through the addresses indicated

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE DETAILS
Delegates are kindly requested to indicate their arrival and departure dates, time
and flight details on the registration form.
VISA ISSUES
Participants are kindly requested to visit the Diplomatic Missions or Consulates
of Ghana to obtain their visas. Participants from countries where Ghana has no
Diplomatic Mission may request for a visa on arrival facility, and make available
photocopies of the bio data pages of their passports to facilitate the processing
of their visas on their arrival.
CURRENCY EXCHANGE
The major international currencies are exchanged freely at the commercial
banks and the numerous forex bureaux located all over the city. The prevailing
exchange rates are displayed in the banking halls and in the forex bureaux.
HEALTHCARE
Healthcare facilities would be provided at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel and
the Labadi Beach Hotel during the Conference for delegates who may require
emergency treatments.
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS
Participants with special dietary requirements are entreated to notify the
organisers of the Conference on their registration form.
