Master of Science in Engineering
Admissions Criteria
Application
A completed application for admission to the program. Completed applications and assessment records are valid
for one year. Following one year, the student will need to submit an updated application and fee for the purpose
of reassessing the file under the current catalog year.
Transcripts
Official transcripts of all undergraduate work and any graduate work attempted or completed sent directly to the
appropriate Admissions Counselor designated at the time of application. Failure to provide a complete record of all
academic work may result in the student not being accepted into the university, or if already enrolled, being
withdrawn from the university.
Foreign Transcripts
For applicants with foreign transcripts, a copy of the original transcript will be accepted, with an English
translation. Transcripts, however, must be evaluated course by course by either Educational Credential Evaluators
(ECE), World Education Services, Inc. (WES), or SpanTran Educational Services, Inc. before evaluation and
processing by LeTourneau University.
Undergraduate Degree and GPA
For regular admissions standing, the applicant must have a bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related
field from a regionally accredited college or university at the time of attendance with a minimum cumulative grade
point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). An applicant whose grade point average is below 3.0 will be reviewed by the
Graduate Admissions Committee for Engineering, which will consider whether the applicant may be admitted on
academic probation.
Students currently enrolled as undergraduates must apply for admission into the program and be accepted
provisionally before registering for the graduate version of any course.
GRE Requirements
A satisfactory score on the verbal and math portions of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is required for admission
into the graduate program. An applicant whose combined GRE score is below 1100 or Analytical Writing score is
below a 3.5 will be reviewed by the Graduate Admissions Committee for Engineering, which will consider whether
the applicant may be admitted on academic probation.
Essay
A personally prepared essay of approximately 300-400 words that details the rationale for pursuing graduate study
and how the M.S. Engineering program relates to personal and professional goals. A specific question may be
posed by the graduate committee to applicants to guide the essay.
Letters of Reference
Two letters of reference, preferably from a supervisor or instructor must be provided by the applicant.
TOEFL
For applicants whose native language is not English, a test score of at least 550 on the paper based or 80 on the
internet based versions of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
Support of Mission
Applicants must be supportive of the Christian mission of LeTourneau University through the integration of the
Christian faith with learning.
Admissions Committee
The Graduate Admissions Committee for Engineering will consider all indicators of success from the above criteria
in making admissions decisions. The decision of the Admissions Committee will be final.
