1. List various communication strategies used in your school to provide additional
information to parents and to increase parental involvement in supporting classroom
instruction.









Literacy Department created a Literacy Pamphlet that explains the literacy department
and outlines ideas for parental involvement. Call (870) 533-4464.
Parents can access grades through HAC using a password they receive from Debbie
Wood, HAC coordinator at the beginning of the year.
Teachers use e-mail to communicate with parents about their academics and extracurricula activities
Teachers contact parents by phone to communicate about students' academic progress
Parent night was held September 25, 2012. The school improvement status of the school
and what the school has to offer students in addition to an Overview of the Common Core
State Standards. admission were discussed. Mrs. Javana McCall addressed the Common
Core Standards for Math and Mrs. Pam Townsend addressed the Common Core
Standards for English.
Honor Roll breakfasts are held each nine weeks to celebrate the accomplishments of
those that made the honor roll. Opal Anderson, principal and David Downs, assistant
principal host this event. Contact the school at (870) 533-4464 for further information.
Open house was held on August 16, 2012 for inviting parents to meet the staff.
Progress reports are sent home every 4.5 weeks to parents outlining the progress of their
children. Report cards are sent home after every nine weeks.
The school will use the student handbook, school website, signage at the school entrance,
and parent orientation meetings about the Schoolwide Title I Plan and how to get a copy
upon request. Curtis Turner and Debbie Wood are responsible for updating the school
website.



Parent interest surveys are given to parents to fill out and return. Results of the surveys
are used in helping plan activities for the school year. Rachel Haynes, parent coordinator
