Burgettstown Area School District
Dual Enrollment Program
For Students in Grades 11 & 12
Continuing in the current school year, Burgettstown will offer students both on-campus and
online dual enrollment courses for college credit. Students will have the opportunity to earn
college credits (3 to 4 per course) through the program. To enter the Dual Enrollment Program,
students must meet the following eligibility requirements:
A. The student must be a high school junior or senior.
B. The student must be making satisfactory progress towards fulfilling graduation
requirements as determined by the Guidance Office. **or by a non-public, cyber/charter
or home school program**
C. The student must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.
D. The student demonstrates readiness for college-level coursework in the intended subject
area of study, as determined by the district and/or the college/university involved.
Placement exams may be required for course enrollment.
E. Students who do not meet the criteria listed in A-D may be permitted to enroll in dual
enrollment courses if approval is received from both the school district and the individual
college/university.
F. In order to remain in the program, the student must maintain a grade point average of
2.75 in the high school and a 2.0 (“C” average) in each dual enrollment course.
G. The student must have and maintain satisfactory attendance and citizenship as determined
by the district and the college/university student policies.
The Dual Enrollment application for Calculus will be completed with the Burgettstown
instructor.
Courses offered in the college/university setting are subject to the
application/enrollment requirements of the school.
Each course completed in a
college/university setting is weighted for grade point average and class rank purposes and will
count toward Burgettstown graduation requirements. Each course equals 2 units of Burgettstown
graduation credit.
The tuition, fees, and book charges (where applicable) must be paid by the student/family
at the time of course enrollment. All courses must be approved by the Guidance Office, the
Principal, and the Office of the Assistant to the Superintendent prior to registration.
All students interested in Dual Enrollment courses are strongly encouraged to contact the
admissions office of each college they will be applying to in order to determine if the dual
enrollment credits will be accepted for transfer to the college each student enrolls in after
high school graduation.
