HOLY NAME JUBILEE
Would Holy Name Parishioners - both past and present
- please return the tear off slips from their invitation to
attend our Diamond Jubilee Mass of Celebration and
Thanksgiving on Friday 7th June. Spare invitations are
available at the back of church and donations to defray
expenses are still welcome. Would all families with
young people who can attend our Youth Mass of
Rededication on Sunday 9th June also please return
their tear off slips as soon as possible. If you can help
on either day or if you can lend us a Gazebo for the
Sunday afternoon, please leave your name on the list at
the back of the Holy Name.

CORPUS CHRISTI (Sunday June 2nd) – Eucharistic
Ministers Renewal of Commitment at each Mass in
the Parish. Ministers please attend and be ready to
renew your pledge at the altar steps after the Homily.
There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at St.
Mary’s from the end of 11am Mass until 6.00pm
concluding with Benediction.

BRITISH RED CROSS SYRIA CRISIS APPEAL
Chris Smith and Francis Linley (SM) are getting back on
their bikes this year to support this Appeal by cycling
150 +miles of the Sustrans North Sea route 1 from Hull
to Kings Lynn. See posters in all 3 churches for more
details. Please give what you can to support the Red
Cross and their unceasing efforts to relieve the

MAY DEVOTIONS
At St Mary’s every Sunday during May at 4pm. Join us
for rosary and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
STAMPS FOR EAST TIMOR
The Salesian Mission Office in Melbourne, Australia,
which sifts and sells the stamps, and arranges for the
proceeds to benefit the designated recipients in East
Timor has emailed this acknowledgement of those
sent from and via our Parish. ‘Thank you for the used
stamps you have sent us. On-going progress is being
made through schools, orphanages, medical centres,
etc. Many people are being assisted to help
themselves which in turn enables them to overcome
hunger and poverty. Your help is making a real
difference to the lives of many.’
SM FUNDRAISING COFFEE MORNING
The flower fund. A huge thank you to all who helped
and supported the coffee morning last Sunday in aid
of the Flower Fund. We raised a grand total of
£273.54. Thank you again.
FAITH & LIGHT
Will meet in Holy Name Church Hall after 11.15am
Mass this Sunday, 19th May.
HOLY NAME CHOIR
We would warmly welcome parishioners who would
like to boost the Church Choir in preparation for Holy
Name Jubilee Mass of Thanksgiving on June 7th at 7
pm. Rehearsals will take place in church at 7.30 pm on
Monday 20 May and 3 June. All willing participants
will be made very welcome.

HN VOLUNTEERS - DBS (PREVIOUSLY CRB)
The remainder of disclosures will take place in the
Parish Office (via the church side door) on Saturday
May 25th and Saturday June 1st - 3pm - 4.30pm on
both dates. Would group leaders kindly remind
candidates that it is illegal to work without this
disclosure and they could be liable to a substantial

“The changing face of poverty” at Immaculate Heart,
Harrogate Road on Saturday 8th June starting with
Mass at 12 noon, followed by a shared lunch and a
range of talks and information sharing and finishing
by 4pm.
KATE'S LOURDES FUNDRAISING EVENTS
Beach Body Boot Camp- 10am-11am Saturday 1st
June off Holt Lane. Beach Shopping Bonanza,
Saturday 1st June 91 Tinshill Road, 1pm-4pm If
anyone is interested in either of these events please

CATHOLIC HISTORY DAY
Your opportunity to discover more of the story of the
Catholic Church in our region. Saturday 1st June at The
Bar Convent York. 10am for coffee 10.30am for first
speaker. See posters for speakers details. £15 includes

MASS AT JERVAULX ABBEY
Holy Mass will be celebrated on the solemnity of the most
Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) at
10.30am on Sunday 2nd June by Fr. John Berry. Please see
posters in the narthex/porch for more information.
SM LADIES GROUP
Annual dinner to take place on Wed 12th June. Will

YEAR OF FAITH - PUTTING FAITH INTO ACTION WITH
CAFOD CAFOD Leeds is providing two opportunities to
put faith into action in a special way during this Year of
Faith
Campaign Rally in London - Saturday June 8th. Coach
departs Hinsley Hall 6.00 am. There's enough food for
everyone in our world yet 870 million people go to bed
hungry. We're joining thousands of others to let world
leaders know this needs to change as they gather for the
Hunger Summit and the G8.
Pilgrimage to Holy Island - Saturday 15th June. Coach
departs Hinsley Hall 7.30 am. We're joining our sister
dioceses in the North East for our popular annual
pilgrimage to Holy Island (limited availability! - book your
place now!) The coach fare for each daytrip is only £15. To

OLK GOSPEL REFLECTION
Those who attended the 5 meetings on the Sunday
Gospels during Lent in each of the three churches of our
Parish requested that further opportunities be arranged.
An invitation is hereby given to undertake a series of 4
weekly meetings during June in each venue. At Holy Name
these will begin on Wednesday June 12th, 7.30-8.30pm
in HN hall and continue into the first week of July.
Each session will be in preparation for the following
Sunday's Gospel using the practice of Lectio Divina.
Arrangements in our two other churches will be
publicised when/if they are made – or those interested
are very welcome to join the Holy Name group.
OLK RETREAT DAYS ON THE LORD'S PRAYER.
Our next retreat in this sequence - 'Forgive us our
trespasses' - is at Myddelton Grange on Saturday June
22nd. Please see the OLK website or leaflets in each OLK
church for booking forms, or, if you have been to these
days before and have given your contact details, all you
need to do is add your name to the list via Su Goodyear
and indicate if you need or can offer a lift. Payment please
to Su. A donation of £15 covers the venue costs and a
further £5 will contribute to the resources and running
costs, but please pay what you can afford.. Some
parishioners may wish to pay a little more to subsidise
costs for others. Further Retreat dates are Saturday
September 7th and November 16th.
