England Basketball wants to support Physical Education in Primary Schools because:


Basketball is a fun, inclusive sport that can be enjoyed by all children.
Basketball Clubs, Leagues and Associations across the country have an excellent track
record of establishing links with primary schools. These links have customarily offered high
quality opportunities to young people wishing to play (both within and outside of school) and
teachers keen to learn more about the game.
The Primary school Physical Education will benefit from working with England Basketball because

Our new resource pack, ALL4BALL, contains everything needed to introduce basketball,
enabling children to play (Key Stage 2) and teachers to coach/officiate.
England Basketball staff that can assist and enhance the delivery of basketball.
Our extensive network of junior clubs affords the opportunity for sustained participation in
basketball.
England Basketball’s offer to support Physical Education in Primary Schools is:




To provide primary schools with a comprehensive resource package (ALL4BALL), including
IM Basketball Primary.
To support the education and development of teachers through the delivery of our Activator
Award courses.
To facilitate links with local community clubs able to support curriculum delivery and provide
continued opportunities for young people to play basketball.
Support from Basketball Participation Coordinators (IM Basketball) and Regional
Development Managers.

The Basketball Activators Award is the exciting new award from England
Basketball designed to empower young people with the skills, drills and basic
technical knowledge to deliver basketball sessions within an educational
environment.
A carefully researched basketball learning plan designed to improve a young
person’s physical literacy
Introduction of basketball through five innovate skill cards (dribbling,
footwork, passing, scoring & rebounding) that include individual challenges
and also promote teamwork.




