Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Technical Development team and take
responsibility in the analysis of RNA-seq and DNA-seq data as well as contributing to the generation
of analysis pipelines for novel, third generation sequencing technologies. The research applications
utilizing these platforms include: 1) exome sequencing, 2) whole-genome sequencing, 3) de novo
sequencing, 4) transcriptomic analysis (RNA-Seq), 5)identification of modified bases in the genome.
The work will involve developing and utilizing sequence analysis pipelines using in-house and 3rd
party tools or algorithms, and incorporating these into specialized analysis workflows. The
successful candidate will work closely with members of the Bioinformatics and Technical
Development teams. He will be exposed to a wide variety of novel sequencing technologies,
bioinformatics approaches, and state of the art computing resources.
Summary of responsibilities:
1. Apply and develop ad-hoc bioinformatics solutions for the analysis of complex genomic
datasets
2. Contribute to problem-solving discussions
3. Develop and extend software tools, including data visualization.
Education/Experience

MSc and Research experience in computational biology, mathematics, computer sciences,
statistics or molecular biology
Other Qualifying Skills & Abilities





Demonstrated computer skills (e.g. programming in Perl, Python, C++, Java, mySQL) are
required
Previous experience in processing and analyzing NGS data, genome annotation or in
developing sequence analysis pipelines
Familiarity with databases, Oracle and mySQL, and statistical computing programs, R and
Matlab, would be useful
Ability to work independently, yet be a team player, in a multi-disciplinary environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
