Position: Registered Clinical Officer – Plastic Surgery (1)
Purpose: To glorify God through the provision of excellent compassionate health care for the
patients attending AIC Kijabe Hospital for plastic surgery.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. In-Patient Care: In collaboration with the rest of the Plastic Surgery Team, including
nursing & medical staff, to care for the health care needs of plastic, reconstructive
and hand surgery patients presenting to AIC Kijabe Hospital.
 To work closely with the Plastic and Hand surgery consultant, scrub
technicians and nurses and other Surgery team clinicians, in coordinating the
daily ward rounds on all Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery patients in
the hospital, ensuring adequate documentation in notes, ordering & followup of test results.
 Learn and carry out basic wound care in the ward, and other basic plastic
surgical techniques in the Operating Theater.
 To provide continuity of care for all Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery
patients, especially with new and visiting Plastic surgeons.
 To ensure proper communication with patient’s family, nursing and medical
staff involved in patient care.
 Assist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Unit patient data entry and
collection.
 Be involved in Research activities of the Unit.
2. Out-Patient Care: To work closely with the staff of the Surgical Outpatient Clinic
(SOPC) & Casualty to ensure quality outpatient treatment and prompt attention to
patients requiring admission.
3. Quality Improvement: To work with the ‘in-charges’ & staff of all wards and SOPC to
continually improve the quality of care delivered to Plastic and Hand surgery patients
attending AIC Kijabe Hospital.
4. Capacity Building:
 To take responsibility for improving your clinical skills in interviewing,
diagnosis, treatment and procedures by attending provided continuing
education sessions and utilizing knowledge resources that are available;
 To mentor KRCHN and Clinical Officer students assigned to your oversight,
and to contribute to both formal & informal educational opportunities with
members of the nursing teams in the wards;
 Model good patient care practices and encourage the student’s increasing
responsibility for decision-making. Involve others as needed to answer
questions from the student.
5. Other: Perform any other duties that may be assigned to you by your Consultant.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
 Successful completion of Clinical Medicine Course and approved internship year
programme or an equivalent qualification.
 Committed born again Christian with evidence of spiritual maturity and growth.
 Concurrent registration by the Kenya Clinical Officer Council or application pending
 Interest in Plastic Surgery.
 Computing skills and research interest.
 Management and group interaction/facilitation skills.
2. Position: Security Guard
Purpose: To glorify God through the provision of excellent security services to the patients,
staff, visitors and Kijabe Hospital as a whole.
Duties and responsibilities

Enforcing access control policy by controlling movement of people and vehicles in
and out of the Hospital.

Give direction to hospital patients, relatives and visitors and also offering help
where necessary.

Secure the hospital by patrolling, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting
equipment, buildings and access points.

Prevents losses and damages by reporting irregularities, informing violators of
policies and procedures and restraining trespassers.

Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences and
surveillance activities, interview witnesses and obtaining signatures.

Monitor and authorize departure of employees, visitors and other persons to guard
against theft and maintain security in the hospital.

Patrol among employees, visitors and patients and enforce hospital’s policies and
protect property (Enforce rules and regulations).

Operate detecting devices to screen people and vehicles and prevent passage of
prohibited items in and out of the hospital.

Provide rapid response to security emergencies within the hospital and assisting in
providing aid to victims during emergencies.

Obtain help by sounding alarm.

Provide visual security presence.

Lock all the exits during night shift.

Controlling traffic and directing drivers.

Call police or fire department in case of emergency.

Performing any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and competencies

Must possess an O-level certificate with a minimum of D (Plain) in KCSE or
equivalence.

Ability to meet and deal with the general public(able to speak English and Kiswahili
fluently)

Ability to construct and write clear, concise, accurate and detailed reports.

Physically and medically fit; unimpaired use of hands, arms, legs and feet and ability
to run, lift, climb stairs and patrol for a long period of time.(height : above 5.8’ men
and above 5.4” women.)

Ability to maintain calm and self-control under stress.

Honesty, Integrity and unquestionable background.

Must have a valid certificate of good conduct.

Must have letters from the following: local pastor, area chief and recommendation
letter from the last employer.

Certificates from disciplined forces, experience and trainings in security related fields
will be added advantage.
3. Position: KSN Secretary (1)
Purpose: The purpose of the position is to bring glory to God by performing secretarial
duties in the Kijabe School of Nursing.
Duties and Responsibilities
 Receive and answer inquiries, telephone calls, from visitors/ students and referring
cases that require Principal’s attention and handling the incoming and outgoing mails
appropriately
 Filing and keeping the filing up to date
 Prepare and distribute progress reports to the clinical area – making sure the ward
in-charges receives and signs for them. Follow up progress reports and document as
necessary
 Typing of manuscripts/students exams /handouts & other office correspondences as
requested by the KSN tutors and assisting with photocopying of documents.
 Participate in the preparation of the school’s major activity functions to include:
- Pregraduation
-Graduation
 Participate in preparation of the students document e.g. transcripts, evaluation
forms, grade files.
 Receiving school fees and other KSN related payment, taking to BO and
documenting. And writing payments memos to business office for payment of all
school financial transactions and other school activities in liaison with the principal.
 Participate in preparation for senior classes NCK exam registration.
 Ordering and keeping stock of school supplies required at KSN from various
department within and outside the hospital with authorization from Principal /
Administrative Assistant
 Support activities that promote spiritual ministry to staff.
 Proper management of computer room, Laptops and projectors.
 Ensure the notice boards are well managed.
