 Study Area Core (10 hours)
The study area core is integrated into the contexts.
Contexts of Study
A course of study must be based on the contexts listed below. Indicate which contexts of study the school proposes to
offer. For Approach B, one to four contexts must be selected. For Approach C, one to two contexts must be selected.
Production — animal
Production — plant
Recreation and amenity horticulture
Environment
Farm/product management
Complete the table below, providing an outline of the sequence in which this course is taught and identifying the
approximate time to be spent on each topic. Indicate where the study area core is to be incorporated. When completing
for Approach C, use only those rows required to reflect a course of study based on two semesters of units selected from
Approach B.
Identify each planned assessment task and outline the conditions of assessment for each task. Schools need to ensure
that there is a balance of formative and summative assessment, ensuring students have had opportunities to experience
various assessment types prior to undertaking summative assessment.
Provide a completed student profile (including exit level of achievement) in the Sample Results section. The profile
should reflect information provided in the Assessment section of the study area specification.
