Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector Level 5
About the Course:
The Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector means you qualify for Qualified Teacher,
Learning & skills status. If you already hold QTLS status you can so a shorter subsidiary diploma to
become a qualified specialist teacher. DTTLS is for anyone wishing to work or currently working as a
teacher looking to become a fully qualified teacher in further, adult or continuing education.
Guided Learning Hours: 75
Units the Course will cover:

Preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector
Planning and enabling learning
Enabling learning and assessment
Theories and principles for planning and enabling learning
Continuing personal and professional development
Curriculum development for inclusive practice
Wider professional practice
Optional:




Developing and managing resources in the lifelong learning sector (15 credits)
The lifelong learning sector (15 credits)
Integrating literacy, language and numeracy in the learning of vocational and other subjects (6
credits)
Developing management skills (15 credits)
How you will be assessed:
You will have to create and produce a portfolio with evidence you have been collecting for each one
of your units, such as well as various course engagement tasks which will be created by a member of
our team, various questions, and voice recording to show you are competent. You will have
individual written tasks to complete. There will also be course work set which will need to be
completed on a weekly basis. One of our Assessor’s will come and observe you to help strengthen
your portfolio and ensure you are confident in the specialist subject you are teaching.
Entry requirements to course:
You will have to have a specialist subject which you desire to teach with a qualification at Level 3 or
higher. You must have a minimum access to 150 hours of teaching practice within a recognised
Lifelong Learning location to achieve the Diploma. You must have English and Maths qualifications at
Grade C or higher or a Level 2 however we do offer Functional Skills qualifications that will get you
up to the required standard if you do not have the relevant qualifications.
