Greetings.
We are Roger and Janet Seehafer (website: honeybranchcreek.net) and you
were gracious enough to allow a substitute breeding to Strutin On The Range in
2013 when Machine Made was lost for the breeding season. Unfortunately, the
mare we bred to him, Asset Affair, was not in foal at the end of the breeding
season. We were pretty disappointed as, learning more about Strutin On The
Range, we really looked forward to one of his babies.
Yesterday we were pretty excited when a beautiful, long-legged, filly hit the
ground out of our best broodmare, Graced With Assets (own daughter of Protect
Your Assets and Top 10 Open WP ridden by Ray Riddle). However, our
excitement turned into "head scratching". Graced With Assets (bay mare) had
supposedly been bred to Diesel Only, who is homozygous for the dark gene and
cannot sire red foals. We have been over and over our breeding records, as well
as those of our vet's, and receipts for shipped semen. They all indicate that
Graced With Assets was bred on April 27-28 and the only shipment for semen
within that time frame came from Gumz Farms. We're pretty confident that
semen was mistakenly ordered for Strutin On The Range rather than for Diesel
Only. (Looking at the picture of the filly makes us even more confident that this is
so as her markings are so similar to Strutin On The Range).
