Technical Description of the Always Infinity Overnight Pad
The Always Infinity Overnight Pad is a disposable female sanitary napkin that uses an Infinicel
core for higher absorbency. This description will detail the four main parts of this sanitary napkin
and how the materials and design improve product comfort. A user who understands how this
product is designed will be able to use it properly and avoid leakage. The Always Infinity
Overnight Pad is a minor wedge shape with the front being slightly narrower in width than the
back. The top of the pad is covered in a soft –to-the touch cotton blend fabric. The core of the
pad is made up of company-patented Infinicel which is a highly absorbent foam. The bottom of
the pad is made from water-resistant Tyvek. And a polymer based adhesive on the bottom keeps
the product firmly in place within the underwear. On the either side of the long portion of the
pad, in the middle of the length are wings that help keep the pad in place during movement.

Aside from the wings, and the slightly smaller Infinicel core, each piece of the Always Infinity
Overnight pad is roughly the same length and width. However, the thickness of each individual
piece varies. The product as a whole weighs .5oz. The dimensions roughly shared by the three
main parts of the pad are as follows: The length is 30cm. As the product is slightly wedge shaped
the width of the back (10cm) is greater than the width of the front (8cm).
Cotton-nylon blend top
The cotton-nylon blend top is very flexible, and has a weight that is negligible, as is the
thickness. This material is peppered with oblong shaped holes that are 1mm by 5mm. These
holes appear in a roughly even, close pattern over the entire surface. This top covers the Infinicel
core and is included to increase the comfort of the product.

The core of the Always Infinity Overnight Pad is made of company-patented “Infinicel.” This
material is a highly absorbent, flexible foam that can absorb up to 10 times its own weight
(approximately 5 fluid oz.). This portion of the pad is the primary piece used for absorption and
can be used effectively for up to eight hours (inadvisable). The length and width of the Infinicel
core are slightly smaller than the length and width of the front and back of the product. This
reduction in size is needed to allow the core to lie flat within the pouch created by the front and
back. By lying flat the overall comfort of the product is improved. The length of this piece is
28cm, and the back width is 7.5cm while the front width is 5.5cm. The thickness of this piece is
3mm.
The patterning on the Infinicel core can be split into two parts. The front part is made of evenly
spaced dots, each with a diameter of 2mm. These dots form an arrow pointing towards the front
(or narrower) side of the pad. The back part of the design is made of evenly spaced horizontal
lines that span a partial part of the width. Each line is 3mm wide, and varies incrementally in
length from the shortest—near the center of the pad (33mm)—to the longest near the outer edge
of the pad (41mm). The entire Infinicel core is cushiony and extremely flexible.
Water-resistant and adhesive back
The back of the pad serves two purposes. First, to ensure that none of the liquid collected by the
Infincel core leaks out once it has been collected. Secondly the back serves the purpose of firmly
connecting the pad to the underwear by use of an adhesive. The water-resistant material is a
light-weight, flexible Tyvek, and the adhesive is a polymer based glue.
Wings
The Wings help keep the pad in place in the underwear; especially during strenuous activities
such as sports. The general shape is similar to a butterfly’s wings. The materials of this piece are
a combination of the cotton-nylon blend on the top, and the Tyvek on the bottom. The Wings
also have two tabs of the polymer based glue in the center of the two humps of the wings. The
Wings are placed symmetrically along the long sides of the product across from each other. At
their longest part they are 12.5cm in length. The length shrinks incrementally along the curve to
its smallest 9.5cm. Its width varies as there are two crests and one dip in each wing. The width
from pad to crest is 2.5cm. The width from pad to dip is 2cm. The length from crest to crest is
6cm.
Conclusion
In conclusion by understanding the materials and design of this product allows for better use, and
greater protection from leakage. In the future more iterations of this product will be forthcoming.
