Birney Elementary School Compact for Grades Kindergarten – Second Grade
Teachers, Parents, Students – Together for Success

This School-Parent Compact for Achievement is a voluntary agreement developed to support the success of all Birney students.
In School
At Home
Teachers will work with students and their families to
develop students’ learning. The focus of our key
connections with families will be:



Birney Classrooms will model our mission:
Equal and challenging learning environments
for all students. We are committed to
promoting life-long learning that will enable
students to become positive contributing
members of a diverse society.
Teachers
will
provide
parents
with
communication from a monthly newsletter and
from weekly Tuesday Folders. Teachers will
send home information about your child,
learning opportunities, family projects, school
activities, field trips, and other resources for
parents to support the curriculum standards.
Teachers will provide high-quality, standards
based instruction that will help students grow
as
 Mathematicians and Scientists
 Readers, Researchers and Authors
 Problem Solvers and Presenters
Birney parents will work with teachers and family
members to support student learning. Families may
have other ideas to add to the list.





Actively support the classroom by reading
Tuesday Folders, other school-home
communication, and agendas (Second grade
students only). Sign and return papers as soon
as possible.
Support the school by attending conferences,
meetings, learning opportunities, and family
school activities.
Support the school and help develop positive
student behaviors
Share your concern for academic excellence
with your child. Strive to support him/her with
academic Ways families can do this are:
reading and writing to and with your child,
sharing real-life connections for math and
problem solving, discuss daily learning and
homework, volunteering time to help the
school.

to my parents
 Work cooperatively and respectfully with my classmates, teachers and other school staff
