Unless there are changes with Hurricane
Isaac, Lufkin will not serve as a shelter for
evacuees from Louisiana. The National
Weather Service doesn’t believe east Texas
will be impacted by the storm, but wants
everyone to remain on alert in case the storm
changes course and heads more west towards
our area.
Most people are worried about flooding in
New Orleans and because Isaac falls on the 7th
anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. However,
people are concerned in our area of burning
outdoors because the storm’s wind gusts could
spread fires.
Lufkin will take in evacuees if asked to,
especially if the storm begins heading our way
in east Texas.
