Chairing





Sarah: Created a schedule for chairs and a set of guidelines to standardize
chairing
Elise: All new chairs need to be accompanied by experienced vice-chairs to avoid
slip-ups and ensure proper parliamentary procedure.
o Sarah believes all experienced and new chairs must attend at least one
Chair Training session
o Cam: Vice-Chairs will bring a different chairing style for every topic which
is important for overall experience of delegates
o Elise is concerned about quality of debate if only inexperience members
are chairs
Vice-Chairs will rotate for every topic to not mess up country assignments
Next Chair Training session will be October 7th, more details later
We might need a new NATO Chair and might not have a Nationals chair. Will
discuss further when Phil is present.
Mentorship



Sarah: Mentorship this semester wasn’t too effective; we need strong mentorship
presence in UN, especially during the first debate sessions
Cam: Still debating whether to create a new BoD seat for Mentorship
Sarah will get in touch with Gavin to touch base with him
Budget Update


Elise: Another 1,700 from PoliSci and the initial 13,000 from PoliSci; high
possibility of receiving funding from new IAF Center.
98 dues collected so far, a good number. Cam will deposit this week.
Conferences

CARMAL
o HD is Jane Rudy, AHD is Ryan Chaffin
o Jane, Ryan, Phil, and Sarah have been keeping tabs on promising new
members during class debate. There’s a concern about who the 5
experienced members will be but Sarah and Phil will speak to Jane and
Ryan to figure out the final numbers
Numbers are still in flux. Elise believes 10 is a good number but the budget
allows for 15 max.
o Must approach new and experienced members this upcoming week to
know who is up to go to DC for CARMAL
o Deadline to book rooms is October 27th
o High chance we can fly in and out of DC

passenger
o Evan and Phil will pay McMun September 29th
