Equity Policy
Hackney Hurricanes Athletics Club
Sports equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognising inequalities and taking steps to
address them. It is about changing the culture and structure of sport to ensure it becomes equally
accessible to everyone in society. Hackney Hurricanes AC is committed to ensuring that equity is
incorporated across all aspects of its development. In doing so it acknowledges and adopts the following
England Athletics policy:
We work in partnership with the wider athletics family to create a vibrant, safe and progressive sport that
embraces athletes of all abilities, from all communities, and to grow the next generation of athletics
champions. We will not tolerate any discrimination from any of our affiliated athletics and running clubs.


We will appoint an Equality and Diversity Board Champion to make sure Equality, Diversity and
Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We will publish our successes and commitments to
achieving equality in athletics.

We will get a better understanding of the equality profile of our organisation. We will look at ways of
improving our monitoring data in order to understand inequalities within our organisation and sport
3 We will raise awareness of and embed equalities and diversity throughout our organisation

We will ensure that all our employees will receive up to date training on Equality, Diversity and
Inclusion. We will provide information for clubs, coaches, officials and members to help them tackle
inequality and discrimination in athletics. We will look at our policies, procedures and processes to
ensure that they are inclusive and do not discriminate
