First announcement
Dear Colleagues,
We cordially invite you to the IIIth International Research and Practice Conference
“Current trends in vegetable breeding and seed production. Traditions and prospects”
which will be held in the All-Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Breeding and
Seed Production during August 8-9, 2012. The programme will include a range of
activities, encompassing oral presentation, poster presentation, workshop on breeding
and seed production of onion crops, and technical trip to a nearby production field.
We look forward to interested participants - researchers, breeders, seed production
companies, and other commercial organizations.
Conference schedule
Tuesday, August 07 –
Arrival, Registration
Wednesday, August 08 – Scientific Programme, Plenary Lectures, Poster Session
Thursday, August 09 Workshop on breeding and seed production of onion
crops. Technical trip to a nearby onion production field.
Main topics
1. Theory, methods and development of initial breeding and parent material.
2. Priority guidelines of breeding of vegetable crops:
- Heterosis breeding;
- Breeding for quality (good value for consumer appeal and market
requirements);
- Breeding for resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses.
3. Technological and ecological aspects of seed production of vegetable crops.
Procedure of participation
The language of the meeting will be Russian and English.
The Registration Form should be sent to conference2012@vniissok.ru before April
01, 2012.
The authors are asked to prepare manuscripts which will be printed in the book of
Proceedings of the IIIth International Research and Practice Conference “Current
trends in vegetable breeding and seed production. Traditions and prospects”.
Registration fees
A registration fee for participants is 1500 RUB. Registration fee includes:
- Conference programme
- Coffee/tea/refreshments in the breaks
- One copy of the conference proceedings
Payment is on the day of arrival on the spot.
Accommodation
The accommodation will be in the student campus or hotel. To make reservation

Guidelines for manuscript submission
Authors should format their manuscript using the following style:
1. The total size of the manuscript should not exceed 10 pages, including figures
and tables.
2. The text should be laid out for standard A4 paper. Font size should be 12pt,
text font Times New Roman. Text should be justified and 1,5 spaced.
3. Titles are printed in boldface. The byline under the title includes the name of
author(s) and affiliations. The affiliation or address of author is included
below the name.
4. The body of the manuscript should include: abstract, introduction, material
and methods, result and discussion, literature cited.
5. Tables and figures are normally included at the end of the article in that
sequence. The picture’s format is jpg or tiff at a resolution of 300 dpi.
6. All submissions should be sent in MS Word format to the following e-mail
address: conference2012@vniissok.ru no later than April 1, 2012.
