COURSE SYLLABUS

GENERAL INFORMATION:
a.
Cadet Command Mission. To commission the future officer leadership of the US Army and
motivate young people to be better citizens.
b. Battalion Mission. “To educate and train and inspire cadets so that each graduate is a
commissioned leader of character, committed to live the Soldiers Creed, competent in the basic
skills of their chosen profession and prepared for a lifetime of excellence and service to the Nation
as a n officer in the United States Army.”
c.
Class Mission. To develop within each cadet/student a greater understanding of physical fitness
and build esprit de corps and team work.
d. Prerequisite. None
e.
Credit Hours. 1.0 semester hours.

Required Texts. The Department of Military Science will provide all of the required text and
equipment for this class. All other manuals will be hand receipted as needed and will be returned at
the end of the year or upon withdrawal.
COURSE OBJECTIVES & OUTCOMES.
a.
The building of effective teams of people. Raise overall fitness level and promote active lifestyle.
Outcomes- Build comradely and unit cohesion, promote an active lifestyle.
b.
Increase Physical Fitness.
Outcomes- Able to pass APFT with a score of 250 or higher, (Record APFT _______) complete 4 mile
run in 32 minutes or less, complete 6 mile Ruck March in 90 minutes or less.

Attendance. Attendance at each class period is required. You will lose 50 points for each missed
APFT, and 30 points for missed class. To receive an excused absence, the coach (OIC) must be notified
and approve of the absence at least one class period prior, unless you’re in the hospital.
UNIFORM AND APPEARANCE.
a.
Appearance and Grooming Standards. While in uniform, you will adhere to the US Army standards and
display a professional military bearing. All uniforms and boots will be clean. When not in uniform,
your appearance will comply with the standards set forth by Dixie State College.
