1.0 The Institute’s Profile
Tanzania Institute of Education is a dynamic and vibrant public Institution established
by Act No. 13 of 1975 (CAP 142 R.E. 2002). The Institute belongs in the category of
Non-university Institution of Higher Learning and is under the Ministry of Education,
Science, Technology and Vocational Training. The Institute’s mandate centres on
practical translation of Government policies on education into befitting curricula,
curriculum-support materials including books, training in curriculum studies
including in-service training of teachers and educational research and consultancy.
All these functions aim at facilitating provision of quality education at pre-primary,

2.0 Invitation of Applications
TIE now invites suitably qualified Tanzanians to apply for the positions specified
below:
2.1 Curriculum Coordinator Trainee (Special Needs Education: Visual
Impairment) – 1 Vacancy
(a) Desired Qualifications
Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in education or related field in the candidate’s subject
of specialization or equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution. In
addition, the candidate must be eligible for registration as a technical teacher by
virtue of his/her qualifications.
(b) Main Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Teaches up to NTA Level 6 (Ordinary Diploma);
(ii) Develops and tries out school and college curricula;
(iii) Conducts in-service courses and seminars for tutors and teachers;
(iv) Participates in research, monitoring and evaluation of curricula and educational
activities;
(v) Participates in the provision of consultancy services in education under
supervision;
(vi) Writes academic papers as well as teaching and learning materials in the area of
specialisation; and
(vii) Performs any other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor.
2.2 Curriculum Coordinator Trainee (Special Needs Education: Hearing
Impairment) – 1 Vacancy
(a) Desired Qualifications
Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in education or related field in the candidate’s subject
of specialization. or equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution. In
addition, the candidate must be eligible for registration as a technical teacher by
virtue of his/her qualifications.
(b) Main Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Teaches up to NTA Level 6 (Ordinary Diploma);
(ii) Develops and tries out school and college curricula;
(iii) Conducts in-service courses and seminars for tutors and teachers;
(iv) Participates in research, monitoring and evaluation of curricula and educational
activities;
(v) Participates in the provision of consultancy services in education under
supervision;

2.3 Assistant Curriculum Coordinator (ICT in Education) – 1 Vacancy
(a) Desired Qualifications
Holder of Master’s degree in education or related field majoring in ICT or equivalent
qualifications from a recognised institution with a minimum of four years in teaching,
curriculum development or educational management. In addition, the candidate must
be eligible for registration as a technical teacher by virtue of his/her qualifications.
Provided that where the Master’s degree is not in or with education, it should be
necessary for the candidate to have specialisation in education at the Bachelor’s
degree level.
(b) Main Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Teaches up to NTA Level 8 (Bachelor’s degree);
(ii) Designs and develops curricula for schools and colleges;
(iii) Tries out developed school and college curricula;
(iv) Assists in providing consultancy services;
(v) Writes academic papers as well as teaching and learning materials in the area of
specialisation;
(vi) Supports and liaises with the subject association where it exists;
(vii) Organises and conducts seminars for tutors, teachers and other stakeholders;
(viii) Designs and conducts educational research related to the subject of
specialization under supervision; and
(ix) Performs any other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor.
2.4 Assistant Curriculum Coordinator (Chemistry) – 1 Vacancy
(a) Desired Qualifications
Holder of Master’s degree in education or related field with Chemistry as a major
subject or equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution with a minimum of
four years in teaching, curriculum development or educational management. In
addition, the candidate must be eligible for registration as a technical teacher by
virtue of his/her qualifications.
Provided that where the Master’s degree is not in or with education, it should be
necessary for the candidate to have specialisation in education at the Bachelor’s
degree level.
(b) Main Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Teaches up to NTA Level 8 (Bachelor’s degree);
(ii) Designs and develops curricula for schools and colleges;
(iii) Tries out developed school and college curricula;
(iv) Assists in providing consultancy services;
(v) Writes academic papers as well as teaching and learning materials in the area of
specialisation;

3.0 Other Conditions
(a) Employed applicants should route their applications through their employers.
(b) New entrants to the Public Service should not be more than 40 years old on 1st March
2016.
(c) Testimonials and provisional results will not be accepted.
4.0 Remuneration for all Posts
Attractive package will be offered to the right candidate commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
