Course Description:
Creative Art I-IV: Students will be provided with knowledge and opportunities to experience a variety of art forms
to create individual works of art. Students will learn about and use the elements and principles, language,
materials, and processes used to produce various kinds of visual arts. Students will begin to develop their own
creative styles, determine a specialization in art, build a portfolio, and produce work ready for exhibit and
competition. Students will learn about the production of art, study of structures, purposes, careers, and art history.
Studio Art I-IV: Students will be provided the ability to expand and produce artworks in their own specialization in
art (Drawing & Painting, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Printmaking, and Digital Design). Students will create a
professional body of work that reflects their own personal style and talent. Students will work independently on
their own aesthetic endeavors and create their own sense of style. Students will continue exploring elements,
principles, composition, production, purposes, careers and Art History to create and inform their artwork. Students
will create a capstone portfolio, exhibit, and compete in art shows.
AP Studio Art: In the year-long class, students will create a professional body of work that reflects their own
personal style and talent. Students will work independently on their own aesthetic endeavors and create their own
sense of style. Students will continue exploring elements, principles, composition, production, purposes, careers
and Art History to create and inform their artwork. Students will create a portfolio, exhibit, and compete in art
shows. Passing the AP Portfolio exam will gain college credit for course.
Visual Art Workplace Experience/ Internship: Students will be interning in a visual art organization/ business, or
assisting an art educator in a local school.
