Position Summary: Plans, supervises, and promotes activities of evidence-based and
other wellness interventions to promote the well-being, health and independence of
older adults served in senior centers and other community locations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Number of SER Trainees or Interns Supervised: One or more
Number of Employees Supervised: One or more
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree
preferred. Degree in Gerontology, Social Sciences, Public Health, Health
Education/Promotion or related field desirable. Experience in the field of aging, health
and fitness, and teaching skills and experience. Experience with evidence-based
programs, volunteer management, and small group facilitation preferred. Must possess
and maintain required program-specific certifications annually.

Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills; must possess the abilities
to facilitate groups, educate adults, and work with volunteers and partnering agencies;
must have attention to detail, problem solving skills, ability to organize and implement
program procedures; must be self-directed and possess good time management.

Marketing: Must possess an understanding of the skills and application necessary to
promote the growth and enhancement of participation in health and
wellness interventions.
Decision Making Responsibilities
Within agency guidelines and procedures, determines appropriate activities according to
implementation site and workshop needs, and program goals and desired outcomes;
supports lay leaders who are either volunteers or employees of partnering agencies;
and evaluates program fidelity.
Internal Contacts:
Daily telephone and personal contact with SCS employees members throughout the
agency.
External Contacts:
Extensive daily telephone and personal contact with lay leaders, volunteers, volunteer
coordinators, employees of partnering agencies, community leaders and agencies.
Certificates, licenses, registrations
Must complete training requirements and maintain evidence-based program
certifications annually.
Must have own transportation and a valid Texas driver’s license. Must complete and
maintain required certifications. Must be willing to use personal automobile for agency
business.
Consequence of Errors
Errors could result in loss of productive time, dissatisfaction and loss of clients,
supporters and/or volunteers, financial loss for the agency, damage to agency
reputation, and possible lawsuit against the agency. Attendance at agency employees
meetings is required and aids in identifying and preventing errors regarding agency
policies and procedures.
Exposure to confidential information
Access to volunteer and workshop participant personal information and funding
resources information; unauthorized release of information could result in client
dissatisfaction, loss of clients, and/or funding, and possibly lawsuit against the agency.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
1. Under the direction of the Program Manager, plans, promotes, and
implements activities for wellness programs.
a. Implement appropriate strategies to attain program goals and outcomes.
b. Support and facilitate wellness program services and trainings.
c. Develop and maintain relationships with partnering agencies.
d. Oversees program-related expenditures and revenues, ensuring the
efficient use and distribution of supplies, materials and other resources.
e. Maintain master schedule of wellness program activities.
f. Identify and assist in developing resources for program sustainability.
g. Participate in projects and events, such as presentations, meetings and
conferences assigned by SCS.
2. With assistance of Program Facilitator, support volunteer recruitment,
training and engagement activities related to wellness programs.
a. Direct and facilitate volunteer training, activities and events.
b. Evaluate and support volunteer performance and their fidelity to evidencebased standards.
c. Maintain volunteer files and database; track and report volunteer activity.
d. Assist with volunteer communication, projects and recognition events in
collaboration with SCS volunteer coordinator.
3. Under the direction of the Program Manager, coordinate evaluation
activities of wellness programs.
a. Ensure the timely and accurate collection and data entry of participant
surveys.
b. Ensure client confidentiality in collection and reporting.
c. Utilize data to improve wellness program processes and quality
performance.
d. Assist in reporting as required by SCS, volunteers, partners and grant
agencies.

3. Provide assistance to staff in meeting the needs of diverse populations.
a. Evaluate and improve program materials, supplies, and practices for the
educational and informational enhancement of participants.
b. Partner with community organizations to support program implementation
in target communities and participation by target populations.
4. Other duties as assigned.
