Called to order at 7p.m. by Scott Forbes
◦ Motion made and seconded to adopt agenda and approve
October minutes. Both approved by voice vote.

2. Guest speaker
◦ Steve Wilkins described public square project proposed for heart of
U-District, and requested endorsement. Steve will prepare
resolution for membership vote next meeting. Information at
Udistrictsquare.org
3. Program
◦ Legislative Session Preview
▪ Jamie Pedersen and Frank Chopp addressed upcoming
key legislative issues including a transportation revenue
package; minimum wage; and state paid sick leave.
◦ Appointment Process Preview
▪ James Apa described the process for upcoming
appointments to the State House and Senate due to Sen.
Ed Murray’s recent election as Mayor of Seattle and
subsequent vacation of his Senate seat. The PCO’s of the
43rd District will vote for a candidate to fill Murray’s vacant
Senate seat (Jamie Pedersen) and also will vote on three
candidates to fill Pedersen’s open House seat. The votes
will take place during a special caucus of PCOs on
December 3. The votes will be forwarded to the King
County Central Democratic Committee, which will then
advance the recommendation to the King County Council
by Dec. 31, which is when Murray’s resignation will occur.
This will allow for expeditious appointment without a gap in
representation. House seat candidates Christina
Gonzalez, Brady Walkinshaw, and Scott Forbes each
provided a five-minute introduction.
4. New Business
◦ Elections
▪ PCOs elected Marcie Bowers as PCO for SEA-43-1341.
She was elected with 41 votes, compared to Michael
DeBell’s 18 votes.
◦ Appointments
▪ It was moved, seconded, and passed by voice
acclamation, to appoint the following PCOs to their
respective precincts:

5. Officer Reports
Chair Scott Forbes reported that all funds have been recovered from
Chris Maryatt, the 43rd’s former treasurer and an attorney who had withdrawn
monies from the district’s account without prior approval. Scott reported that as of
this date the 43rd’s current bank balance is $13,801.77. He also reported that the
Executive Board’s recommendation is to disclose to the bar association what has
occurred.
