RECentral Intramurals
8 v. 8 Co- Ed Dodgeball
Guidelines:
1. A mandatory captain’s meeting will be held to discuss the rules and regulations. If
there is no representative from the team at the meeting, that team will be charged
with a loss for the start of the season or removed from the league if there are teams
on the wait list.

4. Fridays may be used for make-up games
5. Dodgeball schedules are subject to change depending on field availability. All
desired game changes must be submitted a week before the scheduled game.
Schedule changes can be requested, but are not guaranteed.
6. All participants must be current full-time CCSU students, faculty or staff.
7. All participants must show a valid CCSU ID prior to each game.
8. Remember, intramurals are recreational activities meant for friendly competition
and fun for all participants. RECentral employees attempt to make intramurals as
enjoyable as possible, and expect that participants and spectators do the same.

RECentral will provide 6 official dodgeballs.
Proper attire is mandatory (gym shorts, sweat pants, t-shirts, etc…)
No street shoes (boots, sandals, high heels, etc…), must wear scuff proof sneakers.
Teams are required to wear the same colored uniforms and should provide
numbers on the back.
5. Colored mesh shirts will be available in case of a conflict.
6. No exposed jewelry of any kind (rings, earrings, etc.) No taping of jewelry is
permitted.
Time:
1. Games will be played in a best out of 7 series (first team to 4 wins).
2. There will be a thirty minute time limit in place.
3. If a winner is not determined within the thirty minute time limit, the team with
more games won will be the winner of the match.
4. If teams are tied after thirty minutes of play, then the team that has the most people
left during the current game will be considered the winner.
5. If both teams are tied in every aspect, the match will officially be scored a tie.
Players:
1. A regulation team consists of eight players. No more than eight players on a court at
a time.
2. Team rosters may not exceed sixteen players.
3. Players cannot switch teams or play for two teams at all in the same sport even if
they are in separate divisions or leagues.
4. If a player is found to be playing for more than one team that player will be thrown
out of the league and will not be able to play again for the rest of that intramural
sport.
5. The teams that have that player play for them will receive forfeits for any game that
that player participated in.
6. At least two female participants must be present on the court, in the game, at all
times, except if they are eliminated from the match.
7. A minimum of six players may be used in order to start a match. Two of these
players must be female.
8. If a team cannot provide at least six players, or two females, at any time during the
match, then the team will be forced to forfeit the match.
9. If a female participant is injured and can no longer play, and there is no other female
to replace her, that team will be forced to forfeit.
Game play:
1. The object of the game is to get all the participants on the opposing team “out”.
A player is out if:
A. They are hit by a live thrown ball anywhere below the shoulders
B. The live ball they threw was caught by an opposing player
C. The live ball they threw hit an opposing player above the shoulders
D. (A live ball is any ball thrown without being touched by any other object
including, the floor, a participant, the wall, another ball, etc…)
E. If a player throws the ball within the “no throw zone”
2. A player cannot hold a ball longer than ten seconds.
3. When throwing the ball any part of a player’s body cannot pass the half court line. If
the player passes the line they are out.
4. There will be a designated “no throw zone”. The zone will be approximately 5 feet
on each team’s side. A player is allowed to enter this area to retrieve a ball, but is
not allowed to throw within this zone at the start of the game. If a player throws the
ball in the “no throw zone” they are out. The feet must be behind the no throw zone
to throw the ball.
5. The playing court will be marked off by the basketball court lines. A player is not
allowed to leave the playing court unless to retrieve a ball. They must reenter from
the back of the playing court after retrieving a ball out of bounds.
6. The game will be played with six balls.
7. All players will start with both feet behind the end line. Once the whistle is blown,
they may run to retrieve the balls that are located on the center line.
8. Players are allowed to reach over to the opposing team’s side to grab a ball.
However no body part can touch the line.
9. RECentral officials will have the final say in all disputes.
10. We assume that all participants will follow the honor code during matches.
11. No fighting or swearing.
12. Only captains can talk to the referees about any issues they might have during the
game.
