CIVIL DEPARTMENTAL EVENTS:
AAKRITI
Introduction :There are many different type of bridges; simple plank bridges, suspension bridges and truss bridges.
Other bridges are supported with the structure of the arch, which was used by Roman engineers
thousands of years ago. Truss type bridge is the most widely used bridge, which gets its strength
from a framework of triangles shaped from steel.
Deciding which type of bridge is to be built for a particular location depends on many factors. What
type of traffic will cross the bridge? What passes underneath the bridge? What locations are
available for foundations for the bridge? How much money is available for constructing the bridge?
What materials are to be used for building the bridge?
In this project, you need do background research to learn about the truss types of bridges. In
addition to your online and library research, you should also pay attention to the structure of bridges
in your area. You will make model of truss type bridge , and then test your model to see how much
maximum weight it can support.
Problem Statement :The objective of the contest is to construct the strongest truss bridge by Popsicle sticks (ice cream
sticks)
Specification
1.Each team will be consisting a maximum of 3 members.
2.The building material shall consists ONLY of the standard wooden popsicle sticks and fevicol.
3.Sticks may be cut or formed in any required shape.
4.No other material is required e.g. thread and cables etc.
Rules
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
The sticks shall receive no special treatment and coating.
The bridge must have minimum span of 500 mm and not greater than 700 mm.
Width of bridge should be minimum of 75 mm.
The bridge must have a minimum height of 100 mm.
Mass of the bridge shall be not greater than 800 gm.
More than 4 sticks cannot be use together.
If bridge is not according to above rules , it will be disqualified.
Judging criteria
1. Loading will be continuously monitored and gradually increased until the bridge fails. The
winner is the bridge that holds the largest load prior to failure.
2. All bridges will be loaded to the point of failure unless the contestant decides not to
continue with incremental loads in order to save their bridge!
3. Bridges will be weighed before being loaded. In the event of a tie, the lightest bridge wins.
4.
Contestants and spectators will be expected to stand clear of the testing area and follow
directions of officials at all times during the event.

ECO- CAMPUZZ
Introduction:Introduction
In present scenario each and every campus demand some basic facilities .
Providing more facilities and more logically designed buildings will be the plus point of them .
Here we provide the waste materials which you have to use to design a campus or institute showing
all the facilities etc.
An ideal CAMPUS for an engineering institute is not a new thing for us; Engineers…..Nowadays,
engineering institutes are increasing in numbers without having a good, effective & eco-friendly
campus. So we as engineers are required to build such an ideal campus, that features with necessary
objects which you think that a good campus should comprise of, also it should be environmentfriendly.
So….why to wait!!!!! Just start thinking on an ideal campus, and come out with an innovative idea.
Yeah….it’s really as easy as you are thinking…!!!!!
Problem statement:make a model of ideal campus for an engineering institute using waste & junks (will be provided).
Rules:1) It will be an “on the spot” event.
2) Each team comprises max of 3 members.
3) White sheet, waste & junk will be provided.
4) You are required to come with tape, scissor & necessary measuring instruments.
5) All the branches of B.Tech & M.Tech are open to participate.
Specifications :1. The campus should be designed within the specified area of 3000 cm.^2.
2. The area specifications of the buildings & other things should be clearly mentioned by the
participants.
3 .The time limit for campus designing is 3 hours.
4. The winner will be selected by a panel of judges based on their model will be final.
