RULES FOR THE EASTERN OHIO JUNIOR ANGUS SHOW
MUSKINGUM COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS, ZANESVILLE, OH
JUNE 1, 2013
I. ELIGIBILITY OF EXHIBITORS AND ENTRIES
A. Exhibitors birth date must be from January 1, 1992 through December 31, 2003
and must be a member of the Eastern Ohio Junior Angus Association.
B. Exhibitors in the bred and owned class must be the breeder and the first and
continuous owner of the animal entered.
C. The name and member code listed on the entry form must also be listed on the
animal’s registration certificate as “owner”.
D. To be eligible to show, the animal must be registered in the name of the junior
exhibitor. Farm and ranch names are not permitted.
E. Entries must be postmarked by the US Postal Service on or before May 25,
2013.
No late entries will be accepted!
II.SHOW CATEGORIES
A. There will be a class for bred and owned heifers, bred and owned bulls, heifers
owned but not bred by exhibitor, registered steers and cow/calf pairs.
Champions will be selected in each category. There will be no over all
Champion. * Classes for the open cattle will be the same with the omission of
bred & owned heifers, and registered steers.
B. Entries will be listed in the catalog in order of age (youngest to oldest), and will
be led into the show ring in order of catalog number.
C. Show classifications for heifers: Born after September 1, 2011.
D. Show classifications for bulls: Born after January 1, 2012 ( for Jr. show)
E. Show classifications for steers: Born after January 1, 2012. ( jr. show only)
F. Any cow/calf pair may be exhibited provided the calf is bred and owned by the
exhibitor and the following rules are met:
a. Cow must be bred and owned or solely owned by the exhibitor.
b. Calf must be the cow’s most recent natural calf and must have been born
after January 1, 2013.
III. MISCELLANEOUS
A. This is a NO GROOM show. Cattle should be clean and presentable.
B. Exhibitors will show wearing appropriate clothing. NO SHORTS!
C. The Eastern Ohio Junior Angus Association, The Eastern Ohio Angus
Association, and the Muskingum County Fairgrounds are not responsible for
accidents or loss.
D. Entries will be released upon completion of the show and COMPLETE
CLEANING OF STALLS.
E. Showmanship will be the first class and will be divided into 3 age groups. You
will be automatically signed up for showmanship, you may scratch the day of
the show.

F. Prizes and/or ribbons will be presented to all Champions & Reserves.
Premiums (jrs only) will be paid the day of the show.
If the Champion Jr. Show heifer was purchased at the E.O.A.A Fall or Spring
sale, the Jr. will receive a $100 savings bond from the Eastern Ohio Angus
Association. If named Reserve Champion a $50 savings bond will be awarded.
G. A Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor award (for jr show only) will again be
awarded this year. Winners will be determined through a point system. You
must exhibit at least 2 animals to compete. The prize will be sponsored by
Davis Show Cattle.
H. Cattle can arrive between 8:00am and 10:00am. ALL CATTLE MUST BE ON
THE GROUNDS BY 10:00AM. THE SHOW WILL START AT 10:00AM.
Please note this start time.
I. STALLS MUST BE CLEANED. Manure and trash must be dumped in the
proper assigned area. We will be stalled in the Coliseum. Be prepared to
clean your stall in the Coliseum. A wheel barrow will be helpful.
*** We will hold an EOJAA meeting Saturday,
June 1st at 9:30am for election of officers.
Plan to stay for the potluck after the show. Bring a
covered dish to share. Meat, table service and
drinks will be provided.
