Teaches production of business documents using word
processing, databases, and spreadsheets. Emphasizes
document production to meet industry and business standard.
BUS 100 W2 - Introduction to Business (3 cr.) Presents a broad
introduction to functioning of business enterprise within U.S
economic framework. Introduces economic systems, essential
elements of business organization, finance, marketing,
production, and risk and human resource management.
BUS 165 W2- Small Business Management (3 cr.) Identifies
management concerns unique to small businesses. Introduces
the requirements necessary to initiate a small business, and
identifies the elements comprising a business plan. Presents
information establishing financial and administrative controls,
developing a marketing strategy, managing business
operations, and the legal and government relationships specific
to small businesses.
ECO 120 W2 – Survey of Economics (3 cr.) Presents a broad
overview
of economic
history,
and
repairs yourself.

ITE 115 W4 - Introduction to Computer Applications &
Concepts (3 cr.) Covers computer concepts and internet skills
and uses a software suite which includes word processing,
spreadsheet, database, and presentation software to
demonstrate skill. Recommend prerequisite keyboarding skills.
ITE119 W2- Information Literacy (3 cr.) Focuses on core
information technology competencies. Concepts covered
include database searching, computer applications, information
security, privacy, and use of intellectual property. This class is
for you if you need the class for your educational requirements
or if you are interested in learning to apply technological
concepts.
ITE 140 W3 - Spreadsheet Software (3 cr.) Course covers
the use of spreadsheet software to create spreadsheets with
formatted cells and cell ranges, control pages, multiple
sheets, charts, and macros. Includes topics such as type and
edit text in a cell, enter data on multiple worksheets, work
with formulas and functions, create charts, pivot tables, and
styles, insert headers and footers, and filter data.
ITE 170 W1 - Multimedia Software (3 cr.) Explores
technical fundamentals of creating multimedia projects with
related hardware and software. Students will learn to
manage resources required for multimedia production and
evaluation and techniques for selection of graphics and
multimedia software.
ISR 260 W2- Commercial Insurance (3 cr.) Presents an
overview of common insurance for a business environment.
Includes commercial property, commercial general liability,
commercial auto, workers compensation and employer's
liability and other forms related to a business operation.
ISR 266 W2 -Life and Health Insurance (3cr.) Presents an
overview of life and health insurance. Includes types of life
insurance, types of annuities, disability, and health
insurance. Provides a comprehensive review of group and
individual insurance for each area of life and health
insurance
RPK 103-H1 - Preparation for Wilderness Adventure (1 cr.)
Introduces background knowledge needed to be prepared for a
wilderness adventure. Covers what to do in a planned and an
unplanned extended wilderness experience. Focuses on what to
bring with you and the skills needed to ensure you have a
memorable and enjoyable outing. Hybrid
RPK 150 H1 – Mountain Biking (1 cr.) Teaches the sport of
mountain biking, equipment, techniques, basic bicycle repair,
and trail safety and etiquette, trail conflict management, trail

RPK 151 H30 - Orienteering (1 cr.) Introduces
orienteering, compass and GPS use, topography, and
geocaching as a sport. It teaches map reading, using a
compass, decision-making and team work. Hybrid
RPK 195 31 – Topics in Fly Fishing (1 cr.) Teaches
the basics of fly fishing. Instruction will include
coverage of equipment selection, casting, knots, trout,
fly selection, reading the water, and fly typing
RPK 295 30- Topics in Disc Golf, (1 cr.) Covers the
rules and regulations to the ever-growing sport of
Disc Golf. The course will be held at the Southwest
Virginia Community College Outdoor Recreation
Area.
WEL 141 30 -Welder Qualification Tests I (3 cr.)
Studies techniques and practices of testing welded
joints through destructive and nondestructive tests.
