VCE LEADERSHIP AWARDS 2015
The VCE Leadership Awards recognise the efforts of VCE students in promoting community involvement in their school and wider
community.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Students will be considered for VCE Leadership Awards if they are undertaking at least two Unit 3/4 sequences of VCE and can
demonstrate the following in their application:
1.
Participation in school and community activities
2.
Leadership qualities including the ability to:







be self-directed
work in a team
show initiative
inspire others
be organised
show commitment to making a difference
Positive impact made on school and community.
Participation in activities could include public speaking, sport, the arts, coaching, fundraising, protecting the environment, assisting
the elderly and people with disabilities.
Students engaged in community and social justice activities beyond the school environment are regarded highly. The selection
panel will look for students who initiate activities and demonstrate leadership, compassion and/or make a difference outside of
existing organised structures.
CONDITIONS
VCE Leadership Awards will be granted between the months of April and October 2015.
Applications should be submitted by the last week of the month. Applications close Friday 25 September 2015.
While schools may have more than one student who is eligible to apply, the VCAA will only consider one student from each
school annually.
In months where competition is strong, the selection panel will allow strong applicants to remain eligible for an Award in
subsequent months. Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible in the year to increase their chances of being selected.
Schools should ensure that the following forms are completed and submitted:

Community Endorsement Form.
Support material (e.g. letters of recommendation, newspaper articles) may be included in the application. Students are not required
to submit school reports. The Awards do not take into account a student’s academic achievement.

The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) is a statutory authority continued under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic). The VCAA collects the information requested in this form, which
includes personal information as defined in section 3 of the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic), for the purpose of processing and assessing a school’s nomination of a student for the VCE Leadership Awards 2015
(the Awards) and to publicise and promote the Awards. The information requested in this form will be used by the VCAA and provided to the judging panels, which will comprise representatives of the VCAA and stakeholder
organisations, for and in connection with the abovementioned purposes. Nominees’ and winners’ names, contact details, nomination/application details, school and community support details will also be provided to the
Department of Education and Training (DET) and media outlets, who may make direct contact with the nominee in relation to promotion of the awards. Nominees’ and winners’ names, contact details,
nomination/application details, school and community support details will also be provided to the Award Partners. The information may be used for the purpose of promoting the Awards in VCAA and DET publications.
When an individual’s personal information is provided to the VCAA by a third party, the VCAA requests that the individual is made aware their personal information will be or has been provided to the VCAA, the purpose/s
for which it will be or was provided and to whom it will be disclosed. Unless consent from the relevant individual is provided, or the VCAA is otherwise authorised or required by law to do so, the VCAA will not use or
disclose the personal information collected in these forms, except as set out above, or otherwise in connection with the abovementioned purpose/s. An individual may request acces s to personal information the VCAA
