Niche Public High School Rankings of the Best Public High Schools

Cinco Ranch Ratings: 2nd in the Greater Houston Area, 13th in the state

of Texas, Overall grade of A+

The Best Public High Schools ranking provides a comprehensive assessment of the overall experience at public high schools in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. It uses data sourced from various government and public data sets, Niche’s own proprietary data, and 4,625,227 opinion-based survey responses across a variety of topics from 287,560 current students, recent alumni, and parents. A high ranking in Overall Experience generally indicates that:

•Students are very happy with their experiences in all aspects, including academics, teachers, health, safety, resources, facilities, extracurriculars, sports, and fitness;

•The school is an exceptional academic institution in terms of teachers, students, resources for learning, and student outcomes;

•The school is made up of a diverse population and fosters an accepting, positive school culture;

•Students are actively involved in a variety of extracurriculars and sports the school offers.

Cinco Ranch High School Band Competes at the Lone Star Preview

The Cinco Ranch High School Cougar Band represented Katy ISD at the

Lone Star Preview Contest, competing against 14 other bands from across the state for top honors. After already completing the Bands of America contest in Austin, Texas earlier this season, they went on to attain the results of fifth place in the preliminary section at the Lone Star Preview

Contest. Advancing to the finals against the top ten bands, they secured a fourth place trophy, a new record high for Cinco Ranch. Drum Majors include: Andrea Brunal-Head Drum Major; Assistant Drum Majors-Parker

Diederich, Julia Culp and Daniela Ichter. Directors for the band are Ray

Jones, Danny Rivera, and Megan Moscoso.

52 CRHS Choir students participated in the Region Choir Audition. 41 singers placed in the Region Choir and 22 singers advanced to the Pre-

Area Audition for the All-State Choir.

Cougar Stars “Kick For A Cause” A Big Hit

The Cinco Ranch Cougar Stars preformed High Kicks after a recent football game to benefit “The Ballard House”, a Cinco Charities. The

Cougar Stars raised $3008.00 dollars or 3 days for the “Adopt A Day” program. Three days in December will be dedicated to the Cougar Stars to run The Ballard House. Way to go, Stars!

Cross Country

The Girls Varsity Cross Country Team finished their season as District

Champs, Regional Champions, and competed hard at the State meet to come away with 5th in the State Cross Country Championships! Team members are Megan Hopper, Mackenzie Duck, Reagan Kappel, Sarah

Halvorsen, Isabelle Nielson, Kaitlyn Garza and Annabelle Martino.

The Cinco Ranch boys finished their 2014 season with a 12th place finish out of 50 elite teams at the State Cross Country Championships. They were led by Nathan Gift who had a great race to finish 23rd. Also scoring for the Cougars were Robert Leigh, Austin Puckett, Parker Diaz and Alex May. Patricio Villa and Cole Henry were the 6th and 7th runners for the team.

Debaters

Your novice debaters represented Cinco Ranch well! Sedric Bostic brought home a 2nd place Novice Oratory trophy, Malia Phelps earned 3rd place in

Varsity Original Oratory and Top Speaker award, Kelly Salinas earned 4th place in Varsity Original Oratory, and Daisy Li earned 5th place in Novice

Original Oratory. Sreya Bhattaru and Malia Phelps competed 7 rounds to become finalist in Novice PF. In the NPF event at the Lamar tournament,

Malia Phelps and Sreya Bhattaru beat Seven Lakes to win 1st place. Other standouts were Angela Lytle winning top speaker award in NPF, Malia

Phelps winning 2nd top speaker award in NPF, Sreya Bhattaru placing 2nd in NOO, Emily Merchant receiving 4th in NOO, Rachel Rios winning 4th overall in Dramatic Interpretation, and James Dial as a finalist in super congress.

Golf

Congratulations to the girls golf team of Madison Goldblum, Alexis

Kollmansberger, Sara Kelley, Sarah Zimmerle, Maddie Luitwieler for winning the Concan (San Antonio) tournament. It was a big tournament with a lot of great teams in it, and our girls walked away with a convincing

19 stroke victory.

Quiz Bowl

The Cinco Ranch Quiz Bowl team participated in the first tournament of the season at Seven Lakes. Out of the thirty-two teams present, our

Cinco Ranch Maroon team came in fourth overall. Our white team also did well, winning a hard fought match against Seven Lakes. Because of the

outstanding performance of our team, we qualified for nationals and are now ranked seventh in the state! CRHS Maroon Team - Adi Sudhakar,

Tennis

Your Cougar tennis team ended the season as Regional Semifinalists for only the third time in school history with a 10-2 victory over Deer Park in the Regional Quarterfinals. We were defeated by Memorial in the semifinals, but finished the season with a 12-3 record. The varsity team consists of Logan Baxter, Megan Baxter, Kunal Budhiraja, Shreya

Budhiraja, Ambi Chi, Jeffrey Davis, Alexandra Du, Victoria Gillooly,

Phillipa Haakonsen, Sara Haakonsen, Tom Harman, Stefan Karlsson,

Valentina Martinez, Suvweh Ogbevire, Yoma Ogbevire, Anish Pandit, Ryan

Stomp, Casey Sutton, Kelsey Tara, Victor Tran, Sunny Xu, Jefer Yu, and

Managers Joe Lu and Kalina Zahariev.

Volleyball

Our CRHS Volleyball team ended regular season on a great note. All 4 teams were District Champs. Varsity was First Place 19-6A, JV was

Undefeated District Champs, 9A ended as District Champs and 9B went

Undefeated in District as Champs. The Varsity team closed out their record breaking seasonin the regional quarter-final game, falling to Cy-

Ranch in 4 close sets. The girls fought hard and showed a lot of heart.
