This conference is for physicians, nurses,
advance practice nurses, physician
assistants, and medical and nursing students
who want to get the latest update on
HIV/AIDS.
Upon completion of this educational
activity, participants should be able to:
1. Discuss the global and local impact of
HIV/AIDS.
2. Define the role of nurses in caring for
the newly diagnosed client.
3. Explain the use of PrEP (Pre-Exposure
Prophylaxis) and PEP (Post-Exposure
Prophylaxis).
4. Explain the HIV disease process and the
latest treatment.
5. Discuss the prevention of mother to
child transmission.
6. Describe recommended treatment of the
newborn exposed to HIV.
