Strathcarron Hospice has an exciting opportunity for an innovative Business

Development Fundraiser.

The primary purpose of the role is to increase income by achieving new, and maintaining existing, relationships with corporate funders.

You will have an understanding of the way charities work with their corporate partners from traditional charity of the year relationships, employee fundraising to long terms integrated partnerships. You will have the skills and knowledge to leverage the strength of Strathcarron Hospice’s brand that will ensure our partnerships are strengthened, maximised, grown and retained.

In addition to the core responsibility towards Corporate Fundraising you will be expected to support the Fundraising Manager with major donor and trust fundraising, as appropriate.

Your experience in managing relationships will have been built on the strength of your social, influencing and planning skills. Results-focused and politely persistent, your attention to detail, enthusiasm, team working and self-motivation will be evident in everything you do.

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Business Development Fundraiser

RESPONSIBLE TO: Fundraising Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

The Business Development Fundraiser will work as an integral part of the

Fundraising Team contributing to Strathcarron Hospices fundraising targets by proactively researching, identifying and securing new business opportunities for corporate support, Charity of the Year, cause related marketing and sponsorship, developing proposals and handling all corporate enquiries.

Positively raising the profile of Strathcarron Hospice within the business community the post holder will be responsible for initiating and building mutually beneficial and sustainable partnerships effectively involving the wider fundraising team to ensure long term support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

NEW BUSINESS

 Research, identify and cultivate new corporate partnership opportunities with appropriate companies within the Hospice catchment area that will achieve agreed income targets and raise awareness of the Strathcarron Hospice brand.

 Research and develop opportunities with companies who have a large employee or customer base to drive engagement with campaigns and activities.

 Gather and analyse corporate financial, CSR and industry trend information from a wide range of sources to ensure approaches are tailored targeted and of the highest quality.

 Develop and maintain a visible new business pipeline to include the potential financial and non-financial value of each company to enable proactive tracking, monitoring and forecasting of future partnership income.

 Research, prepare and deliver compelling proposals and presentations for prospective corporate partners.

 Develop a profile and build relationships with the local business community by using a broad spectrum of approaches to include speculative/drop in visits, formal pitches and meetings.

 Attending and networking at appropriate events and activities to develop relationships and maximise the opportunities for corporate support.

RELATIONSHIP/ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

 Ensure that all commitments to corporate partners are realistic and fulfilled to agreed levels and timescales.

 Develop account plans for each corporate partnership with agreed objectives, income targets, milestones and communications strategy.

 Manage relationships with corporate partners before, during and after receipt of financial/non- financial support ensuring a high level of support is maintained.

 Develop and maintain a comprehensive sponsorship requirement package that includes corporate giving and COTY applications within the corporate arena.

 Develop and maintain a portfolio of companies and take responsibility for delivering and developing plans for securing new income from businesses by identifying growth areas and opportunities within the corporate sector.

 Develop a corporate partnership extension and replacement strategy in conjunction with the Fundraising Manager.

 Drive fundraising activity across each corporate partnership to give high levels of return.

GENERAL FUNDRAISING/ADMINISTRATION

 Maximise all opportunities to promote activities and raise income by working as an integral part of the fundraising team.

 Participate in all fundraising team meetings reporting and liaising on all corporate fundraising initiatives.

 Contribute to the planning of the Fundraising Department by developing and producing detailed plans of activity for corporate fundraising.

 Liaise with appropriate fundraising team members to organise fundraising activities or events specifically to meet corporate partner needs and are conducted in accordance with Hospice policy and best practice.

 Support the Hospice Social Media Strategy ensuring all corporate fundraising content displayed on the Hospice website and used in any social media forum is accurate and up to date.

 Ensure that appropriate administrative systems and procedures are maintained, ensuring the corporate partner information held on

Raisers Edge system is up to date to support the Fundraising

Department activities and ensure effective donor relations and development.

 Analyse and provide statistical and financial data on all corporate fundraising.

 Provide information to develop knowledge and understanding of corporate fundraising across the organisation.

 Assist Fundraising Manager in appropriate fundraising initiatives.

 Maintain awareness of other corporate fundraising initiatives that may influence or enhance Strathcarron Hospices fundraising activity.

 Demonstrate a commitment to professional development and take full advantage of education and training opportunities to develop their own competence.

Terms and Conditions: The terms and conditions of service are those laid down in line with the Whitley Council terms and conditions.

Location:

Salary Scale:

Strathcarron Hospice.

£28,000-£34,000 per annum

Staff taking up a new appointment with

Strathcarron Hospice will normally enter the scale at the minimum of the pay band/range. Any appointment above the lowest point of the pay band/range will be subject to verification of previous NHS/Hospice services or experience outside the NHS/Hospice, which is given in recognition of relevant complete years of experience.

Hours: Full Time 37.5 hours per week

Employees may be required to vary the pattern of their working week subject to the exigencies of the service.

Permanent Duration:

Annual Leave: 27 days rising to 29 days after 5 years service and to 33 days after 10 years service plus 8 public holidays (pro rata).

Or

202.5 hours rising to 217.5 hours after 5 years service and to 247.5 hours after 10 years service plus 60 hours public holiday (pro-rata)

This post is superannuable under The Falkirk

Council Local Government Superannuation Scheme and your remuneration will be subject to deduction unless you choose to opt out of the scheme.
