Caldera Health Ltd., a young biotechnological
company seeks a highly motivated molecular
scientist to participate in the development of
diagnostics for prostate cancer.
The company
• Caldera is a molecular diagnostic biotech
company developing diagnostic and prognostic
assays. The first target is a gene expression
based biomarker test for prostate cancer.
• Located in Auckland, New Zealand, Caldera has a highly qualified and skilled team
scientists and well-equipped laboratories. The team has extensive experience in molecular
technology, and has excellent laboratory resources for protein and nucleic acid
technologies, with specific propriety knowhow in the molecular progression of cancer and
immunology.
The position
The successful applicant will work as part of a dynamic team on the development of a
diagnostic test for prostate cancer, involving fundamental research and validation through
clinical studies. Techniques generally used in this position are:





FFPE/Urine/blood sample preparation/preservation
RNA extraction from FFPE/Urine/blood samples, cDNA production, (q)PCR,
quantification, gel-electrophoresis and clean-up of products
Automated library preparation for next generation sequencing
Flow cytometry
Fluorescent microscopy and related techniques Bioinformatic and statistical analysis of
NGS data
Additional responsibilities




Daily maintenance of laboratory and instruments
Maintain meticulous records of experimental data and produce reports when needed
Participate in downstream analyses discussions
Expand knowledge on techniques and subject of research
A candidate is sought with a PhD in molecular biology, cell biology or related discipline.
Applicants must be industrious, enthusiastic, curiosity-driven, and able to work independently
and accurately. Good organisational, interpersonal and communication skills are essential as
are personal integrity and good work ethics.
