Formal FP teaching takes places monthly on a Wednesday afternoon for
both F1 and F2. Trainees are expected to attend 70% of teaching over
the academic year.
F1 and F2 trainees are also expected to attend a two day Professional
Programme session organised by the Trust. Trainees will be allocated
to one of the 3 sessions held.
Communication within the trust environment is carried out via email and
a text messaging services has been set up for foundation doctors.

At local level, each employing trust has F1 and F2 representation on their
Postgraduate Education and Training Committee, their Faculty Development
Steering Group and the Department also hold regular FP forums.
An educational supervisor is allocated to each foundation doctor for the full
two years of their Foundation Programme to maintain an overview of
development and progress of the doctor within the training programme.
Foundation trainees are allocated a clinical supervisor for each four month
post who will supervise the trainee in consultation with the Foundation Tutor.
An educational agreement will be completed at the initial interview of each
post.

These checks are required in all instances and the Trust reserves the right to
withdraw the conditional offer at ay stage, should the results not be to the
Trust’s satisfaction
The appointment will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service of
Hospital Medical and Dental Staff and Doctors in Public Health.

Induction/shadowing Trainees are offered a 6.5 days shadowing/induction programme. During the
induction period trainees are expected to complete their mandatory training.

Initial competence assessment is carried out at the end of the shadowing

The salary scale is in accordance with the current national rate and
placement within the scale will be in accordance with previous reckonable
service.
As at 1 April 2013 the starting salary for
Foundation Programme Year One doctors - £22,636 per annum plus
appropriate banding multiplier.
Foundation Programme Year Two doctors is £28,076 per annum plus
appropriate banding multiplier.
F1 doctors are entitled to 28 days annual leave in the year.
The 28 days entitlement does not include the 8 statutory holidays.
In some specialties there is some restriction on when foundation doctors can
take their leave during the 4 months. The individual directorates will inform
the doctor of any specific restrictions on when they can take leave.
Foundation doctors are required to book leave at least 6 weeks in advance
via the relevant Business Manager

Accommodation
Single and married accommodation is available from the Trust though not
guaranteed for successful applicants
Rental prices vary between £380 – £415 inclusive of all bills
for single accommodation and £475 - £600 for married accommodation.
FY1 doctors are required to pay the full rental amount required.
