Chester C. Charles, II, AuD.
Dr. Charles is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He received his Doctor of
Audiology degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and his
Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology/Audiology with a minor in psychology from
Shaw University. The catalyst for his pursuit into the career of Audiology was his
personal experience as an ENT audiology patient due to having difficulties hearing
at a young age. Dr. Charles has his Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology
from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). He has his state
license to practice Audiology and dispense hearing aids in Louisiana. He is also in
the process of obtaining various other memberships to professional organizations.
Dr. Charles also currently serves an Adjunct professor at Southern University
teaching classes such as Introduction to Audiology (undergraduate), Introduction to
Aural Rehabilitation, and also Advanced Aural Rehabilitation (graduate).
Specialties: Diagnostic audiology; auditory brainstem response (AMR); dispensing
hearing aids.
Research: Localization ability of Hearing Wearers (not yet published)
Education and Training: B.S. Shaw University, AuD., Texas Tech University Health
Sciences Center.
Minority Student Leadership Program participant 2008
As an MSLP participant, I participated in leadership-focused educational programs
and activities at the 2008 ASHA Convention. I also participated in activities that
enhanced my leadership skills, and helped me gain a better understanding of how
the association works. This provided me with the opportunity to interact with
leaders in the professions of audiology, speech-language pathology, and speech,
language, and hearing sciences.
Academy of Dispensing Audiologists Participant 2009
As an ADA participant, I participated in leadership-focused convention with various
audiologists from around the United States. Activities included educational
seminars about various testing and clinical procedures, as well as professional
opportunities to interact with private practice owners.
