Tshwane University of Technology has a permanent position of Lecturer (Geology) at the
Arcadia Campus.
Key Performance Areas/Core functions:





Lecturer undergraduate students in geology subjects on all levels, specifically in the
fields of mineralogy, petrology (strong petrography) and structural geology
Participate in developing and revising the curriculum in collaboration with industry
stakeholders and aligned to the strategic vision of the department
Liaising with industry and other stakeholders regarding excursions, research and
community projects
Participation in research group with particular emphasis on the training and supervision
of BTech students
Participation and administrative leadership in departmental, faculty and institutional
committees and activities relating to the learning programmes of the department
Minimum Requirements:




A relevant Master’s degree specializing in the fields of mineralogy, petrology (strong
petrography) and/or structural geology
A B Tech or BSc Hons degree in geology
At least 3 years’ teaching, industry and/or research experience in the fields of
mineralogy, petrology (strong petrography) and/or structural geology
Relevant teaching experience will be a strong recommendation
Other requirements
Registration with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions
(SACNASP) will be an advantage
