EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Mezzo Maths is a programme developed by Mezzo House Limited - a professional
organization managed by a group of Ghanaian Mathematical Professionals headed
by Rev. Peter Osei Akoto and affiliated to the Ghana Mathematical Association and
the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Gambia (MoBSE).
These professionals are dedicated to the course of offering society a novelty and
path-breaking method of Mathematical education through a vehicle called Mezzo
Maths in which simple, friendly and entertaining methods are used to make children
develop love and interest for mathematics.
MANAGEMENT
Rev. Osei Akoto - Director
Mezzo House Limited is lead by Rev. Peter Osei Akoto. Rev. Osei Akoto brings a
wealth of academic excellence as well as a proven record of tutoring. Rev. Osei Akoto
has taught Mathematics for the past thirty Four (34) years . It was this experience
that provided Rev. Osei Akoto with the insight that he enjoyed and excelled in. Rev.
Osei Akoto attended Wesley College, an affiliate to Cape Coast University, where he
offered Mathematics, English and Education and later attended University of
Education Winneba, Ghana where he offered Mathematics Education. He has a BA in
Ministry from Christian Leadership University USA. He is currently the resident
Pastor for International Charismatic Church, Accra, Ghana and the director for Gold
Avenue School, a class DzAdz school in Ghana. These provided Rev. Osei Akoto the
impetus, the diligence and the capabilities of such tactical skills having the ability to
change the face of Mathematics.

OUR VISION
Our vision is to offer MEZZO MATHS programme to every school-going child and
interested adult in the sub-regions of Africa.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to train instructors to impart in children MEZZO MATHS skills and
concepts for the development and expansion of their brain capacity. We take a
unique and innovative approach to teaching mathematics that helps students
connect with the subject matter through personalized
and focused teaching
processes.
OBJECTIVES
1. Partner with your countries education ministry to impact the Mezzo Maths
concept in both instructors and students.
2. To develop methods of approaching the subjects (Mathematics) that helps
students get their minds around challenging concepts hence achieve the
following benefit;
 Builds solid foundation in Mathematics
 Improves Mental Numerical Speed and Accuracy
 Improves the students’ problem solving skills etc.
INTRODUCTION
MEZZO HOUSE LTD. is the sole organizer of the MEZZO MATHS programme in Ghana
and Africa. MEZZO MATHS is a form of MENTAL ARITHMETIC calculation that does
not involve the use of gadgets/instruments. It is done by the human mind using the
brain power in performing calculations.

Mathematics Teachers are trained by Mezzo House to gain the Mezzo skills and
knowledge to impart the students during Mezzo Maths period.
By 2023 teaching and learning of Mathematics would become fun and interesting for
all school-going children and adults who will have the opportunity to go through the
MEZZO MATHS programme.
Mezzo Maths is currently running in private schools in Ghana and also in basic
schools in The Gambia as a government project where teachers are undergoing
training.
MEZZO MATHS gives both the instructor and the child an easy and simple
methodology to solve Mathematical problems without using any device such as
calculators, abacus etc. With MEZZO MATHS, children are trained to use both their
left and right brain effectively and also have fun while solving Mathematical
problems. It helps with their concentration, speed and accuracy, listening skills,
mental skills and imagination hence boosting their confidence in all areas of life.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Solving problems in Mathematics has become a Dzmonsterdz scaring both children and
adults especially in Africa; and the failure of High School Students in mathematics is
as a result of their poor foundation in Mathematics. This gap is what Mezzo Maths
seeks to bridge.
Research has shown that about 75% of children lose interest in solving
Mathematical problems before they get to age 14. Scientific research has also shown
that by age 14, the child would have developed about 75% of their brains capacity.

The fear of Mathematics follows the child through to adulthood, thinking
Mathematics is the most difficult subject on earth. Most instructors or teachers
themselves grew up with no solution to this problem.
MEZZO MATHS PROGRAMME RATIONALE
MEZZO MATHS gives both the instructor and the child an easy and simple
methodology to solving Mathematical problems without using device such as
calculators, abacus etc. Learning Mezzo Maths creates opportunities for and enriches
the lives of students who are enrolled on the Mezzo Maths prograame. The
programme provides students with essential mathematical skills and knowledge in
Number and Algebra, etc. It develops the numeracy capabilities that all students
need in their personal and civic life, and provides the fundamentals on which
mathematical specialties are built.
Mathematics in general has its own value and beauty and Mezzo Maths aims to
instill in students an appreciation of the power of mathematical reasoning.
Mathematical ideas have evolved across all cultures over thousands of years, and are
constantly developing. Digital technologies are facilitating this expansion of ideas
and providing access to new tools for continuing mathematical exploration and
invention. Mezzo Maths focuses on developing increasingly classy and refined
mathematical understanding, fluency, logical reasoning, speed and accuracy and
problem-solving skills. These capabilities enable students to respond to familiar and
unfamiliar situations by employing mathematical strategies to make informed
decisions and solve problems efficiently.

The project will also provide your country’s educational ministry the opportunity in
appreciating the importance of adopting Mezzo Maths into its educational
curriculum.
COURSE STRUCTURE
The Mezzo Maths Programme is divided into three basic parts namely:
 Basic Mezzo
 Elementary Mezzo
 Advanced Mezzo
Basic Mezzo:
 learning games and memory building activities
 addition, subtraction, multiplication and division without using calculators
and
 Visualization, listening and speed calculation.

 this level involves addition, subtraction, multiplication and division without

 This level deals with higher concepts of Mezzo Maths
 Higher levels of Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Divisions
 Fast written calculations, visual calculations of higher level
BENEFITS OF MEZZO MATHS
The MEZZO MATHS programme is a purely mathematical and provides a well–
rounded mathematical education to develop concentration, creative thinking,
memory power, logical reasoning abilities and to boost confidence to face challenges
not only in mathematics but also in other subject areas.
The benefits of the program include, but not limited to the following: Builds solid foundation in Mathematics

 Heeding Skills: The constant practice of calculating sums dictated by the
course instructor helps to acquire speed and accuracy in calculation,
sharpening the listening skills in student.
 Attentiveness: The teaching methodologies in Mezzo Math sharpen the
exclusive attentiveness of students and help them concentrate better.
 Presentation: The ancient art of mental math is primarily about arrangement
and appearance. Constant practice improves the presentation skills of the
student
 Resourcefulness: At a specific stage in this learning process, the students are
expected to work with an imaginary calculator making their brain very
resourceful. Very soon they are seen researching to develop their own tricks.
Instructors help them establish this.
Constant practice in this helps sharpen the imagination skills of the student.
 Rapidity and Precision: This programme is all about speed and accuracy,
through constant practice, the speed and accuracy of the student is improved
not just in arithmetic but in the overall performance of the student.
 Assurance: Once students understand numbers, they are more likely to
become fond of mathematics. They will be more confident and have positive
impacts in other disciplines at school.
Finally, Mezzo Maths helps the student to answer most Objective questions in
Mathematics. However, for the written section; a child is able to determine the
answer mentally before attempting to apply the needed formula and steps.
IMPLEMENTATION OF MEZZO MATHS
In implementing the programme, Instructors will be trained with Mezzo Maths
concepts which are supposed to be added to the main line of mathematical
education. The concepts will be used to prepare the child’s mental alertness for
teaching mathematics, remove the fear of numbers from their psyche and laying the
foundation for learning mathematics. We will enforce the introduction of mental

drills to achieve this objective. If introduced effectively this would help the child to
develop the ability to do critical and creative thinking, logical reasoning, memory
power and confidence.
Though the teacher is the conduit of transmitting this knowledge, he acquires new
skills and develops more self-confidence in his field.
Practical Demonstration- Mezzo requests for practical demonstration to explain and
proof some of the concepts as a way of unveiling what Mezzo is.
Implementation Details
The project is segmented into two parts and executed in a three years period. The
details are as follows;
 3 TOT’sȋ Training of TrainersȌ and 3 Step down trainings
 Year 1; 1 TOT and 1 step down training for Basic Mezzo
 Year 2; 1 TOT and 1 step down training for Intermediary Mezzo
 Year 3; 1 TOT and 1 step down training for Advance Mezzo
Quiz Session
At the end of the training all students are expected to participate in an internal
school competition, however, only students who qualify are allowed to represent the
school on Television.
Finally the best Mezzo students will be invited to compete with other schools for
National Championship.

Conclusion
In conclusion, Mezzo Maths has been tried and tested in schools in Ghana and its
doing great, currently it has been adopted by the Education ministry in Gambia
where Mezzo House limited is deploying its programme.
Finally, MEZZO HOUSE LTD. and your country’s education ministry will adopt the
policy of corporate governance throughout the implementation process of the
project. This will ensure accountability and transparency in the management of
resources.
