Into action:
As Scientist Cell Biology you are responsible for the design and execution of cell biology projects in close
support of our breeding projects across our crop portfolio. You will support and collaborate with our crop
teams in the development of crop specific technology protocols and lead the execution of research
projects.
The challenge:
 Collaborate with our crop teams to agree on benefit targets and translate these into
development objectives and clear targets
 Focus efforts to deliver confirmed benefits and traits as documented in crop strategies,
closely linking technology activities to breeding practice
 Develop appropriate experiments, research protocols and methodologies in support of the
objectives
 Identify and evaluate the impact and importance of new cell biology technologies
 Lead and manage a portfolio of research projects to deliver on targets
 Develop/adapt, test and validate cell biology protocols
 Lead, plan, organize appropriate resources and skills for the assigned research portfolio
 Foster innovation and knowledge sharing: Keep up-to-date with current technical and market
developments. Strengthen our technology capabilities in support of our crop goals. Liaise with
breeders and scientist to share best practices, technologies and knowledge. Maintain room
for exploration and out of the box thinking
 Present research projects to internal stakeholders and customers.
Your profile:
You have a MSc or PhD in Plant Breeding / Genetics or a related field, as well as a relevant background
in cell biology. Preferably, you have 5-8 years’ relevant work experience in plant breeding.
You are at home both in the laboratory and in a greenhouse or the field. You enjoy working with people
and know how to create a good working atmosphere. You are a result driven, creative scientist with
excellent analytical and communication skills.
You are able to translate crop needs into well-outlined and successful research projects.
Thorough understanding of plant breeding and collaboration with colleagues across the organization are
essential. You will report to the Manager Technology & Processes.
