RESEARCH PROPOSAL AND TENTATIVE TIMETABLE (These are not required if the dissertation manuscript is
in preliminary examination, or you have been granted permission to defend it in a public examination or the
dissertation has been approved.)
The approval of the postgraduate studies plan depends on its feasibility and appropriateness. The plan must be
accompanied by a 5–10-page research proposal and timetable that includes the following:
1. Topic of the doctoral dissertation/Licentiate thesis
2. Background
- Background, significance and status of the dissertation in national and international research in the field
- Previous research relevant to the topic
3. Objectives and methods
- Objectives of research
- Materials and methods of research
- Expected research results and their significance
- Other intended publications apart from the dissertation (articles, for example)
4. Implementation of the dissertation
- an account of the progress of research and a timetable for its completion
- sources of funding so far (grants, for example) and funding plan for the future
- national and international cooperation (research projects, international contacts, studies abroad, etc.)

- language of the dissertation
