Tertiary Religious Education Qualifications
Teachers
Are you considering increasing your qualifications in Religious
Education?
The Tasmanian Catholic Education Office can help.
The Graduate Certificate in Religious Education / Theology
From the Director
Vatican II describes ‘Christian education as a work of evangelization/mission
(Lumen Gentium, n. 17). Courses such as the Graduate Certificate in Religious
Education/Theology not only offer teachers a professional qualification, but
also deepen one’s personal growth and professional development in
supporting the evangelizing mission of Catholic education.
Similarly, supporting teachers in Catholic schools to teach Religious Education
is one of our most important priorities. Through dialogue and collaboration
with other teachers, participants in the Graduate Certificate program
deepen their understanding of the Religious Education curriculum strands,
while at the same time enriching their skills, widening their professional
horizons and potentially equipping participants with the foundation studies for
positional leadership within the context of Catholic education.
The Graduate Certificate can also be expanded to a Masters program with a
wide variety of course offerings available to complement the foundational
Religious Education qualifications. It is for these reasons I commend to you the
Graduate Certificate offered through the Broken Bay Institute and the
University of Newcastle.
John Mula
Director of Catholic Education
