Intending exhibitors are requested to peruse the rules and regulations and be prepared

2 The Society reserves the right to alter or cancel any class or competition at any time
3 The Society takes no responsibility for accidents
4 Any Objections to any winner in any class or competition must be lodged with €50
With the Secretary in writing ,within 1 Hour of the event.
5 Exhibitors are to understand that although every reasonable precaution will be taken to ensure
The safety and welfare of animals, The society will not be responsible for loss or damage or
acccident of any kind that may occur ,neither will the society be accountable for any accident that
may occur to any person attending the show whether as a visitor ,exhibitor ,or otherwise.
6 The Committee reserve the right to refuse entries,varying the prize list,or arrangements, or
removing any animal or other exhibit at any time during the show.The Society shall not in any way
be liable for any claim for compensation or otherwise arising out of the holding, abandonment or
postponement of the show, nor for any claim arising out of or connected with the show.
7 The Judges decision is final.
8 Exhibitors /Competitiors must obey the stewards at all times
9 Protecetive head gear conforming to recommended kitemark standard –Pas 015 or En1348 and
fittted with an adjustable harness. It is compulsory for all riders under 16 yrs and for riders in
working hunter horse and working hunter pony competitions.In ridden show classes riders over
16yrs may if they choose wear a bowler hat [gentlemen] or a velvet hunt cap [ladies]
10 Anyone found interfering with any exhibit or disarranging any display will be asked to leave the
grounds. For the convenience of exhibitors, the society has arranged that a veterinary surgeon will
be on call at short notice to attend to sick or injured animals , but fees for this service will be
payable by the owner concerned.
11 The society requires the winners of cups and trophys, to sign for recipt of same and give an
undertaking to return same in as good a condition as it was recived at least 28 days prior to next
show.
12 Entry fees. Withdrawl of entries after the 20th of May 2014 are not refundable.
Important notice to all owners /exhibitors involved in the showing of animals.
The Irish Shows Association would advise all Animal owners who have their Animals Insured to have the
Insurance cover extended to cover them while showing Animals at Shows, we understand that it costs very
little or nothing at all depending on who you have Insurance cover with.
The reason for us in giving you this advice is that if you’re animal were to lash out , and injuire someone or
damage someone’s property, and it is established that your animal was out of control at that time ,you may
be held responsible or partly responsible for any injury or damage caused and could end up paying all,or
part of any settlement reached.

High Quality traditionally bred Sport Horses.[No Continetal Breeding in the Pedigree]
2 Fillies must have been registerd in the I.H.R. as Foals and must be by:
Approved Thoroughbred Stallions.Connnemara Stallions,ISH Stallions, Irish Draught Stallions,
Or any cross of the a fore metioned
3 Dams of fillies must also be by the Stallions as above and registerd in the I.H.R.
4 All exhibitors must have their fillies passports at the qualifying Show and at
the Championship.
5 The entry fee for a Qualifying Class is €15 Entry Fee To Final is €20
6 Fillies entered in a qualifyiing class should also be entered in some other class at the show
7 more than one filly may be selected at any Qualifying Show provided the standard of
entries warrants such selection
8 Should the standard of entries be deemed to be insufficent, no filly will be selected
9 Infringement of these conditions or Championship regulations may lead to

RULES AND CONDITIONS;
Qualifying classes will involve two Ridden and two Working Hunter classes.
International Connemara performance championship working hunter classes.

General rules ;
Competitors must have qualified at approved shows.
Combination of Rider and pony that qualifies must remain the same at the final.
Riders may only qualify ONE pony for the Working Hunter Finals.
Judges at the qualifying shows must be approved Working Hunter Judges and be

Competitors must produce connemara passport at qualifiers and final.
Birth cert for under 16 riders are to be produced on day of final.
Stallions must have obtained prior permission from CPPA, 1 month prior to finals. to compete . Riders over
14 yrs only.
STALLIONS are qualifying for a seperate Championship class for,ride over 14 .These Stallions will
Be exempt from competing in the championship ridden under and over 16 classes.
Entry fee to final is €25, this should be returned with complete qualification paperwork in order to be
entered in the final.
Prizes at the final will go down to 6th place.
Fence height at final in under 16, 2.9’ [84cms] in over 16 3[92cms] .
All classes run under show rules and the decision of the appeals committee in all classes

No competitor is allowed to wear spurs.All under 16.s must wear jodphur boots, no long

[Category A]; Ponies 4 to 6 yrs old. [Category B]; Ponies 7yrs and upwards.
more than one pony in each qualifying category may be selected to compete in the final provided
the judge agree the standard is
pony and/or rider once qualified are not eligible to participate in subsequent qualifiers in the same
category. This rule may be waived by the show committee in exceptional circumstances.
Eg ,sale of pony or injury to rider prior to final.Permission from The Oughterard Show
Committee must be granted prior to any previously qualified pony or rider competing in
subsequent qualifying rounds.Failure to do so will result in the entry not being accepted.
On completion of judging of qualifiers the successful qualifier will be given all relevant entry
documentation by the ring steward This must be completed and returned, along with the
appropriate fee, to the secretary of the OUGHTERARD show within 7 days-this rule will be strictly
adhered to
Ponies must be registerd in a main Connemar stud book.The connemara passport of each pony
must be presented prior to judging at the qualifying show and on the day of final
The Rider must be under 25 years on the 1-1-14 .Birth certs must be produced at qual & final
Registerd Connemara stallions must be ridden by riders over 14 years and under 25 years on the 1st
Jan 2014
Jumping over Rustic /natural fences will be part of the qualifying rounds and final. Qualifying
rounds require 4 fences, 90cm high ,90cm width The final requires 4 fences. Jumps should not
exceed 90cms in height and width. Entrants from shows who do not adhere to this rule wil not be
accepted.
The final requires a minimun of 8 fences which will include a double and a technical related
Distance . For Category [a] Fences must not exceed 90cm in height 90cm in width.
For Category [b] Fences must not exceed 1m in height and 1m in width.
Ponies to be ridden in a plain snaffle, Pelham, or double bridle, boots are allowed for the jumping
phase only, and must be removed prior to the in hand or flat Sections. A running martingale ie
permitted in qualifiers and in the Final. But spurs are prohibited
A performance judge must be used at qualifying shows
Ponies will be judged on type, conformation, jumping technique, way of going and action in hand
Random dope testing may be carried out on the day of final
Any objection must be lodged in writing with the show secretary within half an hour following
completion of the competition, toghter with €50 which is refundable if the objection is upheld
The OUGHTERARD show committee, in consultation with the sponsor reserve the right to amend
the rules as may be deemed necessary .
It is strongly advised by the Oughterard show society that all competitors should wear
A body protector.
Qualifying Rosettes will be presented at the Final.
Entry fee to final €25.00 .
Trophy to be presented to the breeder of the Supreme Champion.
Prizes in each category as follow;1st €700, 2nd €400, 3rd €200, 4th €100, 5th €90, 6th €75. All other
finalists will receive €50 and a rosette on apperance in the final.

8 fences [one is a double] marked 0—10 for each fence

In Hand will be judged as follows;
Conformation;0—10

Movement; 0—10 .
In the event of a tie at the conclusion of judging, a combination awarded the highest points in phase
1 will be deemed the winner.If there is still a tie , yhe combination with the highest points in Phase 2
Flat Ridden will be deemed the winner.
