MINUTES
Motion by VonHagel, second by Bahm, to approve minutes from Jan 16, Jan 24th and Feb. 4. Carried
CHAIR ANNOUNCEMENTS
Prioritization: Scores will be sent to the department, two members from prioritization team will meet
with the department to present findings. Joel will try to set a meeting time that is convenient for all to
attend. Those who would like to attend are welcome. Every program area has a week to submit a 500
word response to the report. All documents will be sent to the Chancellor.
Admissions Office move – Provost stated that the rumor going around about the cost of the move is not
true. The move will be a minimal expense.
Foundation Scholarship - Recommendations to the Foundations must be submitted by April 4th. Get the
word out to students about the scholarships.
SENATE REPORT

UAAC REPORT
Nothing to report
ASSESSMENT REPORT
Nothing to report
WRITING CERTIFICATE (Sarah)
Offering $500.00 stipends no more than $50 per person. Courses are being approved not the section
numbers or instructors. Sarah will keep department informed.
SOCIAL INQUIRY CONFRENCE (Sarah)
Conference will be held on Tuesday March 11, Swenson 3069, Public Affairs Lab.
8:00 am - 4 student panels
2:30 pm - round table session
4:00 pm - bring in approximately 4 or 5 alumni to speak about how the programs in SI helped them
exceed in their careers or how they impacted their careers.
Let Sarah know if you have any suggestions on Alumni that can be invited to speak.
This is also Global Awareness week promote to include. Send submissions to Sarah or Deb by Feb. 15th.
This date can be adjusted as necessary.
SOCIAL JUSTICE SPEAKER SERIES (Sarah)
Sarah requested suggestions on future speakers. Sarah will try to coordinator to get them here to speak.
URSCA COORDINATOR ROLE (Sarah)
Priscilla volunteered for the Coordinator. She will keep everyone informed of URSCA dates.
LIBRARY REPORT (Sarah)
Sarah will continue to give everyone copies of the catalogs to select books. Sipress, VanHangel &
Mansbach said they did not need copies. Joel is interested in requesting out of print books.
HISTORY POROGRAM CHANGES

MINI-RETREATS
Everyone is still interested in holding retreats. Everyone agreed to keep retreats on hold.

Motion to approve courses and recommend for general education non-western requirement changes Haji, Seconded Edwards, Motion passed
ANTHROPOLOGY PROGRAM PROPOSALS REVISIONS
Motion to approve changes- LaChance, Seconded – Haji Motion passed,
ANTHROPOLOGY PROGRAM PROPOSAL – ANTH 356 (FOOD, CUTLURE, AND SOCIETY)
Course will incorporated into Deb Augsburger’s regular rotation by decreasing frequency of course
offerings. Motion to approve-LaChance, Second Haji, Motion passed

NEW COURSES FOR CATALOG
Each program should send one copy to Joel with all the new, deleted, added course information. Joel will
put in one document to send to
SOCIOLOGY SEARCH
Three candidates have been selected. They are scheduled to be here Feb. 21, 24 & 28th.
GLOBAL SERIES
Global Awareness Week will be April 10th. Topics will be on Mining & Global Warming.
Next Department meeting will be held on Tuesday March 4th.
