January 8, 2015
Meeting Minutes
Attendance Santa Barbara: Eileen Monahan, Trudy Adair-Verbais, Adrianna Foss, Lorraine Neenan, Joyce Stone
Attendance Santa Maria: Karin Dominguez, Michelle Graham, Sharol Viker
1. Welcome & Call to Order: Chair Eileen Monahan called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m.
2. Approve Minutes of December 18, 2014 Meeting: Michelle Graham moved to approve the minutes of the
meeting of December 8, 2014; Trudy Adair-Verbais seconded the motion. MSC.
3. Annual Evaluation Report Submitted: Copies of the annual report submitted to the Orfalea Foundation on
December 31, 2014 were distributed.
4. Reflective Practice Institute
a. Budget: The current budget projections were reviewed
b. ECE Units Update: Brandman University has approved offering one unit for participants and two
units for table facilitators. Registration will be available online until after the Institute.
c. Table Facilitators: Joyce Stone will ask Harvest Resources Associates if others can attend the training
on January 29.
d. Registration Update: There was a discussion about further outreach to state contractors, QRIS
programs, the FCC network, and accredited programs.
e. Finalize Social Hour arrangements – food, drinks, cost
f. Logistics Decisions
i. A/V Equipment: equipment is reserved and cost is included in the room rental
ii. Number of Volunteers Needed /Responsibilities: Eileen Monahan will create a schedule and
reach out to team members to volunteer
iii. Room Set-up: room set up will take place at 2:30 pm on January 29
iv. Schedule for the day: Sharol Viker asked for five minutes on the agenda on January 30 to talk
about integration of reflective practice with accreditation and the QRIS work, and to
distribute a flyer
5. 2015 Series
a. Post-Institute Events: there was a suggestion to contact Harvest Resources Associates to get ideas
on following up from the institute and on how programs can implement the practice; there was a
discussion of having a second countywide luncheon towards the end of 2015 as a follow-up to the
March 20 luncheon and the communities of practice work.
b. Evaluation of 2015 Series: Joyce Stone has been talking with Rubayi Estes from the Santa Barbara
Foundation about her helping to create an evaluation tool for the series; they have a meeting set up
for January 16.

6. Next Steps: Additional outreach for registration; finalize process for registering for units with Brandman
University; create volunteer schedule; create table centerpieces; create signage; assemble packets; print
name badges and certificates; create sign-in sheets; finalize catering; purchase snacks for social hour; set up
room.
7. Next Meeting Date:
The next meeting will be held on February 25 at 1:30 pm at both First 5 offices.
