Dear Senior Parents,
It is an exciting time for you and your child as we prepare for the final activities of their
senior year. This is the time of year for you to celebrate your child’s successes, have
your child spend quality time with his/her classmates, and share the graduation ceremony
with family and friends. In this letter we are providing important dates, activities, and
guidelines so that you may enjoy the excitement of June at Parsippany High School!
Please review the following information with your child to ensure a positive experience
from the prom through graduation day:
SENIOR AWARDS ASSEMBLY
Wednesday, June 8th at 7:00 PM
The assembly is in the auditorium. If your child is receiving an award, you will be
notified by mail. You are welcomed to attend.
SENIOR PROM – The Venetian
Thursday, June 9th at 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Students attending the prom must be in school on June 9th. Early dismissal for those
attending the prom will be at the end of fifth period at 11:50 AM. A note for dismissal
signed by you must be given to the attendance office by Wednesday, June 8th. Students
will not be admitted to the prom after 6:00 PM. All students are expected to be in school
on Monday, June 13th by 10:15 AM.
Any student found with or under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be removed from
the prom, suspended from school, and may not participate in the graduation ceremony or
other school activities.
GRADUATION REHEARSAL
Monday, June 20th and Tuesday, June 21st – from 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM
All seniors participating in the graduation ceremony must attend the rehearsals. I am the
only person that may excuse a senior from practice. Missing rehearsal due to a work
commitment is not going to be approved. A brunch for your child will be provided from
11:15 AM to 12:45 PM in the cafeteria on June 21st. Please inform your child that he/she
will need a pen or pencil and that yearbooks are not allowed at graduation practice.
GRADUATION
Wednesday, June 22nd at 9:30 AM
The ceremony will take place on the George P. Johnson Field. In case of inclement
weather, the ceremony will be held in the auditorium.
Your child must be in the cafeteria at 8:00 AM. We expect your child to dress in an
appropriate way for the dignified ceremony. Shorts and flip flops are not allowed. Keep
in mind the ground will be soft; therefore, choose suitable shoes. Cell phones are not
allowed and should be left home.
Your child may pick up his/her diploma in the gymnasium after the ceremony. Each
student will receive eight (8) tickets. In case of inclement weather, only two (2) gray
tickets will be allowed for entrance into the auditorium. In this case, we will simulcast
the ceremony to the cafeteria, media center, and various classrooms.
You may take pictures of your child before and after the ceremony. We will have a
professional photographer present and your child’s picture will be taken. Please remain
seated during the ceremony.
We are proud of the numerous accomplishments of the 2011 senior class. With your
assistance, we can have a positive end of year and a dignified graduation ceremony.
Sincerely yours,
Natalie C. Betz
Principal
