Most students need to review, either in part or entirely, math, grammar, and
writing skills in order to prepare for the GED test.
Those 16 – 18 years old must wait 90 days after officially withdrawing from
high school, have a Kentucky address and pass the GED Ready™ test. A
county superintendent may waive the waiting period for a postsecondary
enrollment deadline, condition of employment, medical reason or family
circumstance. Exemptions to requirements are made for those who are at least
16, have a Kentucky address and are incarcerated, in a Job Corps program, are
considered a state agency child or are in a juvenile detention or a juvenile
holding facility.
GED Ready™ Scoring
To pass each subset of the GED Ready™ test, you must score at least 150
points (highest score possible is 200) on each subset. You must score 600
points out of 800 points in order to pass the test. Averaging scores is not
permitted.
Each of the subsets of the GED Ready™ test is timed. It is just what its name
implies, a practice for the official GED test. So it will be conducted in the
very same way.
If a subset is not passed on the first attempt, then an individual educational
plan (IEP) will be created for the student. If the student was not already in a
class, they will be referred. Retesting will occur after the IEP is achieved.
A student is released to take the official GED content subset each time s/he
passes a GED Ready™ subset content model.
GED Ready™ test are valid for 60 days.
