JOB TITLE: Admissions Coordinator, full-time, permanent
REPORTING TO: Director of External Relations
START DATE: ASAP
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Circa £32,000 plus outstanding benefits package including life insurance,
private medical insurance and generous pension scheme.
THE ROLE:
This is an excellent opportunity to join the most innovative new institution in Higher Education. As our
Admissions Coordinator, you will organise the end-to-end admissions process for both direct and
UCAS applications, from first contact to enrolment. You will work closely with other members of the
admissions team and with academic colleagues, using well developed influencing skills. The role has
specific responsibility for processing student visa applications, ensuring that the College complies with
UKVI requirements.
Following three years of successful UK/EU student recruitment, launch of our own degree
programmes and graduation of our first students, the College has been granted a Tier 4 probationary
Sponsor Licence and its 23 undergraduate degree courses have been designated by the Department
of Business Innovation and Skills. While NCH will always be a small college, numbers are expected to
rise significantly in the next few years; student recruitment will be the main driver for this growth.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Application generation (approximately 10% of workload)




Cooperate with other team members in providing personalised admissions guidance to
prospective applicants, in-person and via email and telephone
Provide occasional consultations to prospective applicants, their parents and counsellors
Help to represent NCH at a small number of UK student recruitment events, including HE
Fairs and UCAS Fairs
Assist in hosting visitors at NCH Open Days, Taster Days, Receptions and Open Lectures
Student application processing (approximately 50% of workload)






Coordinate the processing of all student applications from submission to outcome, to ensure
that applicants receive individual attention and make rapid progress
Manage student data, to secure compliance with the Data Protection Act
Gather applicants’ references and supporting documents
Liaise with other members of the team and academics, to ensure prompt and complete
academic consideration of each applicant
Track decisions on whether to interview, arrange interviews, support applicants on interview
day and coordinate post-interview feedback
Prepare and brief other members of the team and academics for Awards Panels
Visa student application processing (approximately 20% of workload)


Ensure that NCH gathers complete applicant data, to meet UKVI requirements
Check applicants’ documents


Submit applications for internal vetting
Generate clear communications
Application conversion (approximately 20% of workload)



Coordinate the despatch of offer packs
Follow up responses to offers
Support applicants throughout
ENVIRONMENT:
The College is based in a prestigious, Grade I listed Georgian building in the centre of the university
district in Bloomsbury, central London. The team members are very bright, committed people,
working in a busy, open office environment in pleasant surroundings. There will be frequent contact
with able and ambitious students.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Essential: Ability to work as part of a team and independently; excellent written and oral
communication skills; well-developed organisational skills; diplomatic influencing and relationshipbuilding skills, to work with others and to convert initial enquiries into successful enrolments; a high
level of attention to detail; good understanding of UKVI regulations and Tier 4 CASs in particular.
Desirable: Knowledge of the UCAS application process; an understanding of the life of sixth-formers
and how schools function; an appreciation of the process of deciding where to apply to university
and for what course; awareness of the challenges faced by university applicants and their parents.
EXPERIENCE:
Essential: HE admissions experience; recent experience of processing Tier 4 applications and
applying the UKVI regulations, including checking applicants’ documentation, issuing CASs and
generation of CAS communications; working as part of a team.
Desirable: Admissions in a UK university; processing UCAS applications; HE student recruitment.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING:
Essential: Good first degree
Desirable: Good first degree in the humanities
