Aims and objectives
To make it possible for students:







to acquire skills and techniques crucial to successfully complete a
graduate course and, in turn, by achieving success, find the motivation
for life-long learning for professional purposes;
to identify their own abilities and personality traits so that they can utilize
and develop them for creating individual learning styles;
to learn the role and significance of motivation, memory and attention in
the learning process;
to master the methods of accessing, selecting, processing and recording
information and exploit courses, lectures and seminars for studying
(reading techniques, note-taking, managing resources);
to master time management techniques and to prepare individual study
plans;
to be able to manage stress, anxiety and conflict situations;
to overcome difficulties in the learning environment.

new study environment; finding the motivation for life-long
learning for professional purposes; Theory of motivation;
study strategies, individual learning styles, how to match

Lecture + Practice: Time management; self-assessment
test, using your time; time log; time chart; commitment
calendar; preparing an assignment calendar;
5th-6th
Lecture + Practice: Memory, memory strategies and
language learning; memory training, mnemonic devices;
language learning vs. language acquisition;
7th-8th
Lecture + Practice: Processing information in a study
environment: Reading; Note taking; Mind-maps, study plan,
rules of completing assignments; organising information;
9th -10th
Lecture + Practice: Preparation for exams, relieving stress
and anxiety; specific test taking strategies; conflict
management;
11th -12th
Lecture + Practice: Analysis of individual development;

Course policies
Students are expected to attend lectures/seminars and being actively involved
in carrying out tasks during classes.
Subject requirements:
The condition of a grade is regular attendance of classes (maximum number of
missed classes: 2 x 90 minutes); handing in homework on a regular basis,
giving an end of term mini-presentation on students’ own study strategies, a 5-6
pp. case-study handed in the week of the end-term test week.
The prerequisite for signature: attending seminars and class participation and
handing in homework on a regular basis.
