Session Description:
The goal of this session is to provide speech therapists and other professionals
with the knowledge and tools to improve the outcomes of children who have
behavior and/or emotional disorders as well as those children who have been
exposed to traumatic, chronic, and adverse circumstances. Behavior disorders
can undermine children's ability to learn, form relationships and manage
feelings/behavior. When professionals have better understandings of evidence
based pro-active interventions, and understand how these disorders impact
language development and communication, methods and content can be
structured to meet the complex needs of these students.

This course is offered for 0.35 CEUs (Intermediate Level, Professional Area)
Act 48 Clock Hours
PSHA is an approved provider by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to sponsor
Continuing Education programs as required by ACT 48. This program is offered for 3.5 clock
hours. Individuals attending the program must arrive on time and stay the duration of the
program in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours.

Instructors Bio:
Robert Hull
Mr. Robert Hull, award winning career educator, special education administrator, professor and
school psychologist, is an expert in implementing evidence based into practical easy to
implement strategies that lead to desired outcomes.
Mr. Hull's hands-on assistance has helped and inspired thousands of educators who work in the
most challenging schools in our nation. His 25 years of experience working with youth and
teachers in inner city areas and in challenging rural settings has led to him being recognized by
local school systems, state governments and state legislatures. He became known for taking on
the biggest challenges in the most difficult school systems. As a school system and state level
administrator he implemented reforms in the areas of disproportionality, implementing evidence
based practices and educating traumatized children.
Mr. Hull graduated cum laude from Arizona State University with a degree in Psychology and
obtained graduate degrees in education, and public health from Arizona State University and
John Hopkins School of Public Health. He has the rare combination of training that combines
educational strategies with psychological principles and a public health approach of cost
efficiency.
Robert currently divides his time between his assigned Early Childhood Program and speaking
throughout the nation on the topic of Evidenced Based Interventions and Educating Traumatized
Children.
Robert Marino
Mr. Robert Marino is a Nationally Certified Psychologist with an advanced certificate in School
Neuropsychology. He has been working as a school Psychologist for 30 years and has
experience in the assessment and programming for children from infant through high school age.
Mr. Marino received his BA from Mansfield State (PA) with a major in Psychology/Human
Relations. He went on to receive his MS in Psychology from the University of Louisiana at
Lafayette.
Robert began his career as a school psychologist in rural Louisiana where for 2 years he focused
on the assessment of children ages 0 through 5. He then began work on the Navajo reservation
as a school psychologist for 7 years. Additional graduate work at the University of New Orleans
and New Mexico State led to his national certification in school psychology in 1987. For the past
24 years, Robert has served as a staff psychologist for Prince George's County Public Schools
conducting assessments, consulting with school staff and parents, and developing specialized
programs for children with a broad range of identified needs. Mr. Marino served for 8 years as an
interventionist and consultant for a team that traveled to Romania to conduct direct assessment
and programming for children in state run orphanages. He currently divides his time between
assessment and consultation with preschool programs and his role as school psychologist in an
elementary school setting.
Robert recently completed a yearlong post-graduate program leading to certification by the
American Board of School Neuropsychology. For the past 15 years Robert has participated in
the mentor program for new psychologists and has supervised interns from graduate programs
throughout the country.
