Title I News:
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Thanks to everyone who attended last week’s Triumph Over
Testing Family Engagement Evening.
It was a fun-filled
evening for our students and an informative evening for
parents and grandparents.

Our Title I budgeting for next school year is in the works. We
are excited that these additional funds provide our wonderful
Woodland students with such excellent instructional support.

Examples include:

Grades K-2/Mrs. Emily Ward, Grade
3/Mrs. Amy Whitaker, and Grade 4/Miss Anna Lewis.


Dear Woodland Families ~
April Greetings! Spring has finally arrived, and we are so excited! Our
fingers are crossed that the snow and ice will not reappear --- Thanks for your
winter patience, Team Woodland!
As you know, Woodland’s students and teachers are continuing to work hard
as we conclude our fourth quarter of learning. Grades 3 & 4 are anticipating
TCAP testing which will begin on April 27th and will conclude with online
TCAP Social Studies testing on May 11th.
Our students have been learning
and reviewing many new concepts and will show “what they know” during
this important testing time. :) Parents, grandparents, and/or guardians of grade
3 & 4 students: you may assist your students @ home with TCAP testing
practice at the following link:

Dates of Interest
In addition, our K-2 students and teachers are also working very hard in all
content areas. Our daily lessons and practice with reading, writing, and math
are so very important. In addition, our science and social studies connections
are an important part of our discovery and exploration each afternoon.
We
are on point @ Woodland! And remember ~ please ensure that your students
are reading at least 20 minutes each evening.

Celebrating 70 Million Words Read!!! April 2nd (Dr. Reach and Eagle
K’Neagle will be positioned on the school roof)


Kindergarten Registration: April 16th

Science Achievement Awards
The Johnson City School System will be registering children who will be
entering kindergarten in a Johnson City School for the 2015/16 school year.
Registration times will be 9 AM - 12 PM and 1 – 3 PM. The date for Woodland
Elementary’s registration is April 16, 2015.
Note: The child must be five years of age on or before August 15, 2015.
Children who are five on or before August 31, 2015, who attended a system
preschool class, a Head Start Program, or a State accredited non-public school
pre-k program in the 2014/15 school year may also register.
Parents of children who are five on or before September 31 2015, may register
their child and request the child be assessed for kindergarten readiness.
Arrangements will be made for this assessment to take place in June.

We have already accrued 85 million!
